He'd be the Oilers 2nd best defenseman if healthy and playing like he can. Even if he came back on the third pair and played 17 minutes a night that would solidify the left side immensely.

But what if he wasn't? Would you like him back or give Jones/Laggeson his role over Klef?

If he is back this teams D is awesome. I wouldn't give Jones or Laggeson his role with Kelf not being back. Need to trade or sign someone. Elkholm would be a great add for that spot

To be fair, I'd say the same for Keith in regards to playing on the third pair tears of joy

And now you can see your bias. It's a bit eye opening. EDM fans LOVE Kelf and they should. There's nothing wrong with that. It's just when it comes to players on a different team...EDM fans are like Na, he's a scrub! but in reality they're very much the same.

I wouldn't call it a bias, I haven't been one of those crapping all over Keith like others have. I do think he would be a decent addition, but not at his current cap hit. I'd take him around 3 M. Klefbom is still in his "prime" and makes 1.5 M less than Keith. So I still don't think you can compare them straight across.

I hear ya in the cap. Technically Keith's salary is $1.8M per year. I'm not trying to lump all EDM fans together. I just put up those analytics because even at 37 Keith was just as good as Klef at 26. Eye test is something that's subjective and I agree can tell a different story.
Keith has been training 5 different rookies. I like Klef a lot. Would love him in the Hawks.

Well yea, I more so meant just cap hit haha. But yea I agree some people look at Keith's WAR, and are like well this guy is crap. Situation is a big factor. I heard Keith's most common partner was a rookie Ian Mitchell? And even that was only 26 percent of the time? Not ideal. I would play him with Larsson as opposed to a rookie in Bouchard.

Sadly it's looking like Klefbom is done. At least done being a big minute eater. Maybe could play in a limited role.

Mitchell did better without Keith this year. You can't blame Keith's numbers on Mitchell.

So a healthy Keith was better in 2019-20 than an injured Klefbom? Whoop whoop. Keith's numbers fell off the cliff this year, Klefbom may never play again. Keith is 12 years older and gets paid more... I'm failing to see how this "comp" makes Keith look good.

Woah Woah Woah! YOU'RE Mr. Analytics without ANY context what so ever. That's YOU. Stop making excuses.

I'm saying, Hey Let's actually understand what's going on here. There's a story behind analytics. Klef wasn't 100% (BUT not nearly as injured as you're suggesting either. He did play 25:25 ATOI over 62 games) and Keith's been training 5 different rookies.

Now that you know your argument doesn't mean jack...you're attempting (poorly) to back peddle and move away from analytics.

AND he doesn't get paid more. He gets paid a salary which is $2M next year and then $1.6M while Klef is owed $4.5M and $5.2M if he plays.

Look back through my post history and you'll see I always say analytics don't tell the whole story. The eye test also doesn't tell the whole story. It takes a mix of both. Oilers fans are the ones that are all over the analytics with no contex though. Most of you live and die by Corsi lol

You're completely ignoring the fact that 2020-21 Keith was half the player 2019-20 Keith was.

Where did I mention corsi? Looks like you live and die by beating up strawmen! tears of joy

The fact is that '21 Keith was half the player 19-20 Keith was, and Klefbom was playing injured, so the "comp" has ZERO bearing of Keith's value today (which must be judged on a projection of the next 2 years).
