Description
Today I start to do the Metro division and I start off with Carolina. With rumors going around that Hamilton will be a sign and trade I decide to do that. Svenchinkov signs to a short prove it deal because last he declines a long term extension that had a 8 million AAV. So he signs a 2 year deal worth 4.5 mil and if he keeps growing he could get a 10 mil extension. other than that i brought in a lot of the depth players from last year.

  1. Hamilton, Dougie
Additional Details:
NOTE: This is one of the first sign and trades in years for the NHL with Carolina signing Dougie to a 6x8 contract then trade him to the jets who need help on the defensive side after Dustin Bufflyn left the team. Carolina get Stanley and Perefetti who are both young and have a high ceiling and with a first in this year's draft, they do take on Demelo contract, At first glance, this looks like a huge overpayment but if Halimton still can be a top 5 defenseman and help the jets win the cup i can see Winnepeg doing this.

As a Carolina fan I can honestly say

Nobody is going to give up anything near that for Hamilton

I would love it if it happened, but this is kind of crazy

IMHO, I think we'd be lucky to get Stanley and a 3rd

The sign-and-trade is only useful if the other team wants 8 years, otherwise, it holds the same value as UFA rights.

We are probably only getting a 2nd for a sign-and-trade and a 4th for UFA rights

If Hamilton is willing to sign a contract for 6 years to be in Winnipeg, then the Jets just wait for him to hit UFA and sign him to that without giving anything up.

Yeah I really love Hamilton and think he’s one of the best in the league, but Perfetti is pretty much instantly a non starter

That sign and trade deal makes no sense, nobody is paying that much and the whole point of it is to get an 8 year deal out of it.

Svech bridge deal would likely be closer to 6M. They’re likely moving on from Foegele, Paq, Marty. This is a pretty unlikely version of next years team. They’re worse and didn’t upgrade at any of their positions of need and you still have a ton of cap space left over.
