Montreal asks if you partied with Kuznetsov last night cause there is no way this can be a serious proposal! 2-1sts 2-2nds a bottom 6 forward and a 4th! Why wouldn't we just trade for Killorn or sign Hall or Saad? It would make more sense than this ludicrous deal.
Kuznetsov has three 70 point seasons, and was on a 76 point pace for March and April of 2021, after a slow start. Eichel has one 70 point season. Kuznetsov has an addiction. Eichel has a neck injury. Eichel is four years younger and scores more goals, so he's more valuable, four firsts to two and a half. Hall has two 70 point seasons but has said he's staying in Boston long term, regardless of money.
Killorn has zero 30 point seasons and is 32. Saad at 28, has three 50 point seasons, but none since he turned 24.
If the Habs move Tatar out, they have 20M of cap space to add six players. If they trade Byron (1M retained) for Killorn, they get Killorn by adding 2M to their cap number. That's a good idea.
With Danault a UFA and Kotkaniemi an RFA, I think the Habs most likely just sign those two long term and, along with Suzuki, call that good enough. But if they let Danault walk, bridge Kotkaniemi for four years, cheaply, and trade for Kuznetsov, they could have a lot more offense, and they might have cap space to sign Saad.
