Detroit declines, Bert not on block.

Since Yzerman became GM he has not once paid assets for any player older than 24 years of age.

Detroit isn’t gonna wants Hymans contract and Reilly is nice but do you really see him waiving his NTC for DETROIT. Plus Detroit isn’t in the position to give up younger players and picks for older players they don’t need at the moment

Plans change.

And it's not a bad idea to acquire good players in their prime.

You keep saying that. (The Yzerman thing) So what he's never going to?

Not at this stage of the rebuild. When they get into contending place, they will be making Callahan/McDonough type of deals. Now it's all about prospects and assets. He personally said he won't acquire anyone over 25 at this point, so this trade like all the others by this poster is a no go. People need to start listening to Yzerman, he means what he says

It's a very small possibility Rielly waives for Detroit.

But anything is possible. Detroit will be good in a short while. Players know Yzerman built a Stanley cup winning team in Tampa so why not join him in Detroit? He has the track record unlike a lot of GMs.

He's never going to trade away a top line winger for two players that will be retired before Detroit is ready to compete.

He's also never going to trade away assets for a defender when he can get one in FA or on a cap dump deal that brings assets in instead of out.

Why not resign yourself to the fact that Toronto doesn't have the assets it would take to land Bertuzzi. That's unless you want to thow Nylander into the mix.

If Bert is going to be traded at all it'll be for a trade like the Mantha one. Detroit have no reason to trade Bert at all and will only do so if the offer is too good to refuse. In all other scenarios he stays a Wing.

So on what planet would Yzerman move a 26 year old Tyler Bertuzzi? For a 29 year old Zach Hyman and a 28 year old Morgan Rielly that doesn't fit our rebuild timeline, None that i can think of. Yzerman wants younger players that fit out rebuild not older players that don't.

If the Leafs are interested in Bertuzzi, as the rumour suggests, then I don't see them trading picks (they barely have any) or young players on cheap deals which they desperately need to ice a team unfortunately.

Very few players on the Leafs roster have good trade value that the Leafs are looking to move on from. Rielly is number one on that list.

I don't see this trade happening in all honesty unless Dubas overpays.

1 Depends on how much bonus money Toronto can pay. If Hyman gets 38.5 mil total and Toronto can pay 20 mil bonus getting Hyman at 7 years 18.5 mil isn't bad. Same with Rielly. If Tor can pay 25 mil of Rielly's contract a 8 year 29+ mil contract is good.

If the key is saving Arz money Sandin, Liljegren and Robertson saves them a lot of money for a #1 LWer...

Holy these are getting bad! Hyman isn't worth anything since you only hold negotiating rights and we don't need a rental D man. Why don't Toronto fans get this!

That's basically what we've been saying Toronto just doesn't have the necessary pieces to get Tyler Bertuzzi, He's technically not even on the market. Plus it's a divisional trade so it's going to cost a pretty penny. If Dubas wants Bertuzzi he's going to pay a high price. Injury or not Yzerman basically said that he's looking at a similar Mantha deal for Bertuzzi and Toronto just doesn't have it.

You are right Detroit is in no position to make trades like this.

Hyman is a ufa so he has nothing to do with any trade.

The leafs aren't trading Nylander or Sandin. Sandin is their next offensive d-man and will be way better defensively then Reilly ever was

Obviously you didn't bother to read the description then. because in this scenario both Hyman and Rielly are signed long term for Bertuzzi and The Rangers 2021 2nd round pick. ,

Ok so if hyman and reilley came with ext like 5ish years and the contracts aren't crazy id have to really think about it. I'm not in love with hyman, but I like Reilly a whole lot.
