You'll need more than a 2nd round pick for Seattle to take Voracek. I doubt thats the type of trade St.Louis would take for Tarasenko as well

St Louis has no reason to blow it all up with all those long contracts, JVR keeps them in contention Short term, and his contract is the same length as tanks which doesn't hurt their books

Eh probably not tho 😕

Voracek still close to point per game and seattle will have a ton of cap space for the remainder of his deal... not that old either; most teams wouldn't unload him

He gets a bad rap nowadays mostly because PHI are so cap stuck and eager to compete but still quality

As a Blues fan, I think this could be accepted.

Yeah very pragmatic deal for STL and yeah a unique situation there, with their long term deals being so fraught... not 100% sure what STL have in mind

Yeah I think you're undervaluing Voracek too much, a 2nd should be more than enough. I think you're also overvaluing Vlad, they're getting almost an equal producer who stays healthy and a high risk high reward pick in JOB. Plus JVR's contract ends a year sooner and 500k cheaper. Think both of these would go through.

So you're saying a team wouldn't want a playmaker in his early 30's that averages 70 points a game/82 games over his last 5 seasons?

Seattle isn't going to take on older players with large cap hits imo. At least without major compensation. Its no longer about how good the player is anymore, its how good are they compaired to their cap hit and their age.

For starters its not just about the skills of the player. Voracek is 31 with three years left at over a 8mil cap hit. If he was 21 or if he made 5mil would be a different situation. A 2nd rounder isn't enough to make them choose him over another player.

And what are you talking about overvaluing Vlad? I gave no indication of his worth. I said I don't think thats the type of deal their looking for. Not that its not fair.

Voracek is a player who is averaging 69.8 points per 82 games in the last 5 seasons, his cap hit is high yes but sorta is right in that territory of production, and is a seasoned vet. Yes he has 3 years left on his deal but Seattle will have plenty of cap room and guys that average 70 points aren't just hanging around on trees that can be had for free. If they wouldn't take a second let them take someone else then, Jake has value around the league for sure.

He has been declining and gets paid over 8mil a year. Seattle/Francis won't be that dumb to take aging players with that big of a cap hit. If he is so good and has the correct aav why would you even pay to get rid of him? Lol

Uh because we have been stuck in mediocrity for the last 10 years. We have too many playmakers on our team and not enough goal scorers. Sometimes players just aren't a fit anymore and addition by subtraction is the only thing left to do. Should i go on? It's not that hard to wrap your mind around a good player on a team is just not needed for various reasons. When you say declining, do you know what that means. His last 3 seasons, his point totals are 69, 66, 67. Seems like he's staying pretty consistent to me

Its not just about pts when i'm referring to declining. I never said he sucked just that in this cap world his value has severly deteriated. For example, if he was making 3mil over the next three years you would be able to move him via trade and het multiple assets back including a first rounder.

Oh of course, i agree with you there, and yes maybe his lack of 2 way play, inability to play on the PK, not really a shoot first player, all goes against him. But he can definitely score, his skating hasn't slowed a bit, he can definitely play on a first unit powerplay, and he's a veteran of the league which is never a bad thing to have. I think you are just overestimating a bit, just a bit, on what it would take to entice Seattle to take him, thats all.
