Description
Bowman will make a few big moves before they chase him out of the league! I'm trying here to see what it might look like to take on Fleury's cap hit and trade for Jones. If the Jones return is not sufficient, I'd throw Mitchell in instead of Beaudin. I can't believe Bowman's interested in Fleury -- he said he wanted to weaponize cap space but it's hard to see Vegas paying someone to take a Vezina winner off their hands. I went down the middle with that one . . .

Still have to do something with DeHahn, I'd think . . . . or maybe find a way to move Connolly. Maybe send him to Vegas instead of keeping salary. They could also put Seabrook on LTIR instead of Shaw, which would make space to take on another bad contract.

Any trade involving basically giving MAF away to relieve cap will mean there won't be much if any retention. Vegas needs the cap space and the sole reason for them giving MAF up.

Without an extension, I think this is fairly accurate for Jones albeit might be Mitchell instead of Beaudin IMO which has more value to Colombus.

IMO Suter is a center and proven himself to be a solid 3C which is the reason we can move Strome.

Sign Hinostroza, a line of Hagel - Suter - Hino would be a very solid 3rd line.

Borgstrom is a big TBD guy.

Stillman and Kalynuk are both 3rd liners at this point and Zadarov isn't much more. Therein lies the problem, Hawks need an upgrade on the left side more then the right. We need to pry Lindholm out of Anaheim and forget MAF and find a way to move Connolly.

Wasn't Stone recently bought out and then signed again by CGY? Vegas as buy out Flower and them sign him again.

Pro tip: if your Seth Jones trade proposal involves Dylan Strome in any capacity, it's a near-guaranteed failure. He's worthless to us.

Hawks definitely need to add an LD as well. They don't have a top pair LD.

I keep hearing the Jackets desire centers. Incidentally, so does Buffalo--if they move Eichel--and Columbus has been rumored to be in on Eichel. I can imagine Strome winding up with the Sabres.

Is Toews coming back? Anyone confirm this officially or are all these AGMs with him just wishful thinking?

He announced he's coming back and sat down with reporters. Looks like all systems go. However, he does apparently have some weird immune response thing (that he thinks is related to being a long-haul Covid sufferer) that makes it questionable. He could come back for a week and then disappear again . . .

Oh ok dang i must have missed that. Yeah i think the want is there but we'll need to see video of him on ice first. That long after dealing with that illness makes me question it. He may want to but his body may not be up to snuff especially if covid messed him up. A 30+ player without the lung capacity anymore???? Thats tough for an athlete.

We'll have to wait and see i guess.

there was some good coverage on the Athletic, if you get that. His symptoms were more fatigue-oriented than lungs . . . but I've heard commenters also comparing those symptoms to concussion or tau-protein related things (which he has a history with), so who knows.

Oh ok. No I dont have the Athletic so I had no clue.

If thats the case then hopefully he does come back healthy. I still think at his age, after that long and coming back to live up to a 10.5M contracts will be a heck of a task for him.

"The Jackets need centers" is an oversimplification. What we need is either a heavy-minutes-munching top-6 defensive type who can shelter Roslovic and Domi and Foudy and Texier, OR an actual #1C. Strome is neither of these, and indeed is arguably worse than what we already have.
