Description
1. Trade with ANA pre-expansion draft, ANA runs 4/4/1 protection

2. Leafs protect 7/3/1
F:
Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares, Kerfoot, Engvall, Rakell

D:
Muzzin, Brodie, Dermott

3. Seattle selects Holl in expansion

4. Trade with CGY (They protected 7/3/1 and lost Giordano)

5. Sign RFAs/UFAs

6. Move Engvall for a mid-round pick to whomever.


This roster is much more balanced and there are options to move guys around. Kerfoot and Rakell can switch from W/C. PP1 has 3 shooting threats. Tkachuk, Coleman and Mangiapane bring more edge to the roster. D takes a bit of a step back but having Hamilton on the backend really helps. Overall I think it's a net positive. Just want to note, I don't see them moving any of the core 4 until probably next offseason.

The Ducks have Lindholm, Fowler and Fleury already

They have one of the worst offenses in the NHL

Why are they trading one of their best forwards with retention for a LHD AND adding a second?

Add Matthews to the CGY trade and you might soothe the anger of Flames fans.

Also ANA trade is pointless for Ducks. They already have a LD logjam and serious lack of wingers. This trade only makes the problem worse.

I’m neither worried about putting tjachik on this team or worried about flames fans that think Matthews belongs anywhere near a Tkachuk trade.

I do wish leafs fans would stop trading for both these players… especially at the same time.

At least. It's every damn year now, Leafs go down in the 1st round and then demand Tkachuk+ for Marner. Then when Flames fans decline we get yelled at about how "Marner is way better than Tkachuk and we should be honored"

At least you've taken the hint that Calgary isn't interested in trading Tkachuk

If Marner was this good the Leafs fans would have no reason to want to trade him.
