My reasoning behind this post is, Foote is a 22 year old defenseman, who is most likely wont be protected (tampa has to protect Sergachev Cernak and Mcdonagh plus Hedman ofc) so they make this trade to not lose him for free. Ottawa gets a young former first round pick big right handed defenseman who has nhl potential to help the team defensively and who may slide into their top 4 immediately if he performs well

You aren't getting tampas best prospect for scraps especially if you arent taking any contracts of tampas back.

Tampa isn’t protecting mcdonagh, Seattle won’t take him with that contract and if they do it fixes Tampa’s cap problem
