Honestly with the buyouts, I think it takes them out of the Eichel convo.

Those buyout cap hits after next year are gonna cripple them for the next four years.

I think they need to look at other options

I think a move like this happens but I don’t think they sign wennberg. I would expect a line of boldy hartman and fiala as the 2nd, this stops rossi from getting to play and develop.

But I think you add greenway to the az deal and drop that pick to like a 3rd. Then maybe give a 3rd instead of 2nd for rask to Seattle. That saves the cap and leaves opportunity for players to develop more.

That is true. But kaprizov made Hartman look like a number 1 center at times, I'm sure Dvorak would be better than that. Along with that, Dvorak won the 9th most faceoffs in the league this last year, which is something this team really missed in the playoffs. In the grand scheme of things I think it would be worth it

Just don't think its nearly good enough. There are plenty of elite players out there on the market and with the buyouts today Min is as all in as they could possibly be. If its not big its likely not enough

I thought of a deal like that as well, but I think the wild give greenway one more year to see if he can take the step up. I also think that signing another center still leaves room for rossi to play, but it means that they don't have to rely on him to crack the lineup right away. I would rather see him ease into a spot and find his groove again after not playing in over a year

You do realize that we would’ve had to pay Parise and Suter that money regardless of buying them out. It was either pay them that money to watch games from the press box or buy them out for the same amount of money to leave. This changes nothing, other than we now have 10m extra in cap space and we save 6 million in the long run.

That seems a bit steep for Dvorak. I think one of those pieces is the centerpiece, and then there are some lesser assets added. And that's way too much money for Wennberg. Not to mention, you can't afford this roster for the next three years without some more drastic changes.

You do realize that you're going to have to open up an additional $10M in cap space for the Suter and Parise buyouts... It saves them money this year but the cap is going to be shrinking significantly for MIN the next few years and going term on a lot of guys will not be possible

That ten million is only for this year, next year the cap hit jumps.

I get Parise, but I’m not sure if buying out Suter was the right move as well and they likely did it so they can protect Dumba. Now they are just going to pay a still solid top four defenseman not to play for them with little cap savings in two years for the remaining three years.

they are only saving 2 million on both guys in 2022-23 and just under 500k on both for the next two years after that. Suter is still a highly effective defenseman. They will miss him on the blue line, and he is still going to need to be replaced. It’s going to be tough to replace those minutes

I have no doubt Brodin will be able to replace him. Calen Addison and Brennan Menell (assuming he gets signed) will come in and and fight for a roster spot as well. It’s not like we have some nobodies filling the void here. I get why you think think the Suter buyout was a bad move but when you realize he was being heavily carried by Spurgeon, its not that bad anymore.
