Would it work

Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 13, 2021
Published: Jul. 13, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Simply put : Buy-out Byron; Trade Drouin to ARZ and over pay to move him and get him a new start.
- Put a move on Landeskog that Avs can't match;
- Give enough to Wennberg to sign with the team;
- Offer Suter a one year deal at 3.5M$ so he can get some of the money he lost and a new start with a team that got the the finals;
- Sign Gaudreau for a year for Depth Chart;
- Move up Poehling to the NHL.

Down side, is that you have ony 8.4M$ in cap space next year to signe Suzuki, Evans and Romanov. Hopefully they can sign at entry level contracts (around 3 to 3.5M$/yr for Suzuki and Romanov, maybe 1.2M$ for Evans).. So they'll need to be creative like Tampa Bay and have "selective surgeries" on higher paid players to keep them off for a few weeks and get more cap space .. But it can be worked out. Tampa Bay are already ligning up the "operations" in order to have 2 or 3 players on LITR list as of puck drop for next season.. Why not MTL?

ALso thinking that Armia and Danault may sign somewhere else. Danault already rejected 5M$/yr per 6 years; Armia is generating lots of interest, so he may get a good pay day from another team who have the space like NJ, Detroit or others.

    I was a big fan of Wennberg in CLB but 4,5M it's too much for him

    Agreed. The person actually took time out of their day to make fun of your team. What a joke. So many trolls on this site.

    Point taken. But unfortunately MTL need to overpay for UFAs all the time. Pressure of playing here. I'd move on him at 3M or 3.5M$ but wonder if other teams would offer the same .. So I'd over pay to get him for a few years. He's a good player, Anderson knows him, so it may be good chemistry to put them together. At 6'2" he's also a good size to help Anderson push the other team around. We need bigger centermen. While I'd love to keep Danault, Habs will need to over pay much more for him. Wennberg would fit well with Ducharme's style.

    This from a guy who gave Kotkaniemi and Lehkonen less than 3M$ when entry level contracts are pretty much set for players like KK at around 3-3.5 and Lek made 2.4M$ and seen as a valued player.. So you'll pay him less. Then trade Drouin for Zucker.. like the Pens are gonna say "Wow! good move!" as they get nothing out of this when they are trying to figure out some cap space.

    That "No. Nope. Nada. Niet. Non. None of this works" must've come from the player's Agents and Pitts GM on your moves.

    Nice deflection. Nice for you for recognizing my AGM is a more interesting subjet to discuss here than this nonsense.

    You are just dumping drouin, throwing a bunch of nothing while robbing Arizona of the 37th overall AFTER THEY FORFEIT THEIR 1ST ROUND PICK TO THE LEAGUE.

    Yes, this is wrong in all languages.

    LOOOOL, you're clueless. That's not trolling, it's just a fact. Do you even know what an "entry level contract" is?

    I'd look at a player like Elias Lindholm whose performance was way more consistent on his entry level deal than KK was and got $2.7M x 2 years on his second deal, so I'd expect KK to be around $2.5M x 2 years. And why would Lehkonen get a raise in a flat cap world when his offensive production and overall usage have both gone down?

    Hi there,

    Nice to see someone using comparables, or just reality in general.

    My personnal number is 2.8M for 2 or 3 years, based on a player he probably never heard about , Roope Hintz. recent signing. similar profile, better season production, similar playoff production. Only got 3.15M AAV.

    Lindholm's second to last contract is a bit old, but at least your method of evaluation was right. i would add that anyway the focus should be the real salary on the last year, as a reference for arbitration.

    Cheers
