Salary and Cap Hit gap helping make an OEL trade work

Created by: Radu47
Team: 2021-22 Arizona Coyotes
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 13, 2021
Published: Jul. 13, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Orlov is only owed 6.6M$ in salary for both years

Despite a 10.2M$ cap hit combined for both years

Waives to switch to RD for more opportunity in Az

For two years while Az are $ stuck this helps a lot

Hopefully they'll be in better shape by 2023

As of now, Orlov is a better player than OEL. I'd rather make smaller moves to upgrade on Dillon than something this drastic.

GMs in this league would have their heads implode!

      Was Dillon bad this season?

No Dillon was solid. He had a rough stretch in the middle of the season but played very well at the beginning and end of the regular season. Also had a solid playoff showing, or at least as solid as anyone on the caps could be with how trash they were against Boston.

That trade is just a no for the caps. There’s just no point. It’s not a good trade.

Based off of the Duncan Keith trade. Dunn's worth about 8 firsts and keller

The Blues are not dealing Perunovich with Dunn.

Every single player the caps are giving up is better than who they would be receiving to replace them.

Wait...this is an Arizona post trying to acquire a top four LHD puck-mover, not the Blues trying to acquire Hayton. This AZ-STL trade looks a lot like the Blues are petitioning Arizona, not the other way around. If Dunn goes, Perunovich stays and vice-versa.

Dillon is incredibly frustrating for me to watch. There are times that he's the perfect physical defensive defenseman, and other times that he's out of position non stop and a giveaway machine. You need players that do what he does in the playoffs, but those mistakes are so costly. He was responsible for the OT winner in Game 2 against Boston, and Samsonov saved his @$$ all of Game 3.
