The Blues are middling, and they don't have much to do about it. They're 'elite' goaltender is struggling and they couldn't beat the most beatable teams all year, landing them in an almost impossible first round matchup. And before the Tarasenko news leaked, the Blues were shaping up for a boring offseason, as they aren't far enough removed for their cup to warant a shake-up, but they weren't good enough last season to go all in. But of course, Tarasenko has asked for a trade and I think that the most likely destination is the Islanders, despite their lack of cap space. As for the package, I think that the Islanders will have to give up one of Eberle, Bailey or Komarov, and I have them trading Komarov here. Next, I think that St. Louis will want Bellows and Da Colle as well as a second round pick, to provide at least some value. Though this is not a great package, I think it's pretty close to what they'll get considering his cap hit and injury history. Next, i have the Blues flipping two of their young, bottom six, RFAs in Sanford and Barbashev as well as a third to get a solid third line option, Alexander Kerfoot, who the Leafs will likely lose anyway in the XD. Speaking of the XD, I do think that the Blues will sadly lose Dunn, as he just won't end up fitting with their protection scheme. I've also signed Drieger as a very good backup.
