Then plan would obviously be to try and re sign Manson but if he doesn't stay then Van didn't eat any long term cap in exchange for moving big money.

I have a feeling what you’ll get for him is likely what you gave up for him. Different reason than the reason Vegas traded him, but likely same end result.

A mid tier rental isn't much higher than a 3rd anyway. But we need bodies on D so I think even in that vein this is still comparable.

I like the deal but I don't think Anaheim even considers it without a 2nd or 3rd rounder coming their way ontop

Can't give a 3 year contract that isnt a cap dump and a good pick for 1 year term.

Yeah. I just wish we could keep him, perhaps get another D man not named Hamonic in the system that can allow Schmidt to play more offensively
