Suter

Created by: ClockReads2113

Initial Creation Date: Jul. 13, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Don't particularly want Suter, but if he signs for 1 year I wouldn't be mad, not more than 1 year though. Have too many young LHD that need time going forward: Alexeyev, Fehervary, Nardella.

Don't know how much he'll cost, but $4M would be the highest I'd go.

I think you’d be better off keeping Dillon tbh, not a bad defenseman in his own right and on a pretty reasonable contract with term

Fehérváry has to be in the lineup this year or else he will request a trade (like Siegs). So Dillon clears up a spot for Sutter (in this example). But I agree - I think Dillon is not a bad defenseman in his own right.

I think the only reason I'd be okay with signing Suter would be if Dillon was taken in the expansion draft. He'd be a good one year stop gap at the right price. The team needs Fehervary in the lineup, you can't be holding prospects in the minors forever for more expensive, older vets.

Why don't the Caps just play their damn young guns? We've had three first round exits in a row. Partly because we're always old and slow and injured. What's the logic of not playing some promising young guns? Other teams do it. Are we scared of...exiting the playoffs early because of inexperience? It's already happening.

Play the young guns.

I think it's just due diligence but if Dillon is taken, Suter is nice replacement as long as Fehry is on the 3rd pair.
