Carolina will counter and say drop Ponomarev and Pashin in favor of an extended Hamilton. He might take 8 x 7.5

I really like both of ponomarev and pashin. Only reason I did a marner trade 😂. Idk about a 1st and Fogele unless Hamilton takes less with the deal I guess. Even then idk

    Do not understand your comment:

Dermott don't fit Detroit rebuild... Yet bertuzzi is? Ok

Are you trying to say Dermott is better than Bertuzzi or are you agreeing? It appears that you believe the latter, which makes zero sense, a top 6 forward for a 5th or 6th defenseman. Dermott has not shown he can play top 4 minutes. Even when players were hurt in Toronto he did not play up.

No. Where do I say that? Where is there a Dermott for bertuzzi trade in this thread? What I'm saying is if bertuzzi fits the rebuild than so do Dermott.

It's funny seeing superstars traded away for peanuts because a certain group of fans of that team hate them for things that have absolutely nothing to do with hockey, and instead, just follow a bunch of dumb narratives created by a bunch of talking heads who are only relevant because this same, weirdly large, group of fans that absolutely feed off this nonsense.

You're trading a 90+pt forward for a bottom 6 winger, a late 1st in a "meh" draft, and two prospects who may, or may not ever play in the NHL.

If that's the cost, I'd be all over it, and laughing for the rest of Marner's career.

I acutally don't want to trade him... Yet. Player can only get so many chances. I did this cuz I really liked both ponomarev and pashin and it freed up alot of cap while getting a roster player and a 1st back too

Dermott might, or might not fit rebuild but not at the cost of Bertuzzi. Again I did not understand and I stated that, and was looking for clarification. All I am saying is Wings can do better with cap space and get a better defensman with cap space and if they trade Bertuzzi.

Well yes. Dermott for bertuzzi straight up won't happen.

How does Dermott get a comparable return to Toews? Two late second round picks roughly equates to pick 37. Would much rather go after Dunn if this is the asking price for a guy that’s going to be exposed anyway.

Dermott has logged plenty of top 4 but with the leafs defence it’s only when there’s an injury. Solid defensively even against other teams top lines and plenty of potential offensively still. Personally I would like to keep him but I do hate the way he is always forced down the depth chart.

I think the OP is trying to make sense of the age and money involved. I would consider Bertuzzi a middle 6 winger or a top 6 support player. I get he plays big minutes with Detroit but I would say that is his trike on most other teams. L

I posted when I got home. It took a lot longer because they screwed up my forum. Everything so far is good.

Hyman is probably gone and going to get paid as he should

Dermott might not even get you a 4th rounder based on his sheltered role (54% Ozone start), and no special teams play (less than 10 seconds per game average on the PK, no PP time), and no 5-on-5 scoring. He's barely a replacement player for every team in the league.

Dunn and Toews are WAY ahead of Dermott. Dunn is a .38PPG player (compared to .25PPG for Dermott), plays on the PP, and plays in a similar sheltered role. Before Toews was traded (using his NYI stats), he was a .40PPG player, averaging 20mins/night of ice time, and played on the PP. Dermott averaged ~13mins/night.

Dunn, if he's traded, would bring back a similar return to Toews (2 late-2nd rounders, maybe a high 2nd rounder, he won't return a 1st). I'm willing to bet he makes it to Seattle though.

If you want to compare Dermott to someone, he's more like Christian Djoos than Dunn or Toews (and Djoos just signed to play in Europe). Similar age, similar numbers, similar playing time.

While comparing him to Dunn. Dunn is better. Dermott haven't had a chance to do anything. A team like Detroit where he can acutally get minuites can benefit both him and the wings. And like gen said. Would love to keep Dermott. 441 Dermott > Holl

I agree, Dermott would be cheaper to acquire and I really like his defensive game. He has all the tools and really just lacks the confidence.
