Yes LA adds. It's complicated due to Marners contract, but like Eichel you will need a big piece thats ready to play and help win now. Futures mean very little to a team like Tor.

I think Marner getting traded is kinda like Bertuzzi getting traded, it's something that the teams don't want to do but fans keep talking about. So for a mock trade to make sense it needs to be so completely lopsided to make sense. So in conclusion yes LA needs to add more

Would this offer get Eichel? No

So it would not get Marner.

Toronto would also be asking for good pieces now, so they can win. This does nothing for them.

Not sure if you follow the Kings or not, but Vilardi played the entire season at 2C in what was essentially his first full year in the NHL. He's a "big piece that's ready to play and help win now." And, if you don't consider Matt Roy as a similar piece who probably becomes your best RD, then I don't know what to tell you.

It seems that you're completely dismissing a 2C for a mediocre team on an ELC who'd play incredible 3C minutes for a team as deep as Toronto, and a 1/2 RD in Matt Roy. All while saving approx 7mil in cap space? I think the value of this deal might be closer than you think.

It's one I wouldn't do from an LA perspective. And it's one fans of the Leafs wouldn't do. Which is usually a good indicator that the value is probably close to true value lol.

I watch LA a lot and you are extremely misguided if you think Vilardi and Roy are enough to get MM.

If this is where you are at you will never end up finding a realistic solution.

This isn't a trade with just Roy and Vilardi though. It's got another 1st, a 3nd, and -like I said- approximately 7 mil in cap space since there's no other cap going Toronto's direction.

Marner's basically being run out of town by his own fans, currently. Yet you claim to want an Eichel-like value for him. Why would any team pay that? Especially knowing the favor that they'll be doing for Toronto to get them out of their cap hell?

The value might not quite be there, I just think it's closer than any Leaf's fan would want to admit. It's totally fine if you disagree, because everyone evaluates their own team players differently. My point is simply that I wouldn't pay this price. Not because I'm misguided, but because I think doing it (or any more) hurts the Kings more than helps them.

Frankly, I'd rather overpay for Landeskog in free-agency, or go after a stop-gap like Saad while the prospects develop, than trade for a guy like Marner.

Oh man when it goes from 2 scraps to 4 that really changes things.

The amount of different varieties of mental gymnastics here is frankly impressive.

At least the last line is reasonable.

Also I bet if I gave you 15 guesses you wouldn't get my favorite team haha

There's clearly no spot where we can come to some sort of understanding on this, when you consider Vilardi, Roy, and a 1st round pick each as "scraps." You're absolutely welcome to your opinion, so I'm just gonna let this go.

Have a good one, my man.

Trade are relative. They are good pieces for mid level players and what not, but not for an elite player in the league.
