Why? We have plenty of goalies? no offense to this dude but his stats are awful

Taking that whole statement back, he meets exposure requirements, i never think about seattle now lol

Yup, purely to have an exposed goalie in the expansion draft.

Just for expansion requirement, but hey, I'll take a free goalie. I think we win the trade even if we don't sign Wells since we don't have to go and actually trade for a good goalie to meet expansion requirements and give up something worthwhile. Good deal for the Canessmile

Dylan Wells wasn't worth anything, and would have been the ECHL backup goalie.

This is not a bad trade, Wells would have been the ECHL back up goalie, Skinner, Rodrigue, and Konovalov are all much better goalie prospects.

Win for Edmonton, Wells was not going to be re-signed.

Holland's buddy Waddell owes him for the Forsberg debacle, which Effed up the Oilers goaltending situation at the beginning of the season. Yet Holland helps him out, yet again, what good dude helping everyone out like that....

Waddell better send at least ond of his 3 7th rounders Holland's way. Wells has been on NHL Scouts radar for a very long time - he definitely has all the physical tools, but he just hasn't developed the mental side.

I could see him possibly putting it all together in 3 or 4 years, but he is clearly a longshot to develop into an NHL goaltender.

That may be.

But Mikko Koskinen + 40 year old Mike Smith is not the greatest goalie tandem.

For that reason, the Oilers should be acquiring goalies, not trading them away.

Also, the Canes are now less likely to need another team's zamboni driver to be an emergency backup smile

the Oilers have better Goalies prospects wouldn't be surprised if one of them becomes a back up some time next season.

Huge W from Carolina, they just got the world's greatest goalie Prospect for future consideration, I can't wait for him to dominate the NHL and win 50 Vezina trophies

It is a little confusing to me because even if they protect Ned they’ll still have Helvig to meet the requirements for goalies. I think this a move to prepare to move Helvig in a larger trade.

Future considerations used to be something, but these days it literally means nothing. You get no picks or players or anything of value on the ice.
