The biggest "hole" in your premise is that 6.75m McDonagh is going to waive his NTC for any team.

Oilers already paid a healthy amount and took too much cap for a much older defensman to fill that role. Don't think we could make McDonaugh work at this point.

It doesn’t have to be Edmonton it could be wherever he’s willing to waive but I just figured Edmonton would be a nice place for him
