Have you looked at the leafs roster? They can make a reasonable offer for any player in the league including McDavid. As the description says, everyone is available for the right price. Whether the deal makes sense for both teams is a different question

I don't think Bertuzzi or Mayfield are realistic unless you're really going to overpay for them.

I'd think about Darcy Kuemper. Renting him for the one year left on his contract might be reasonable.

I agree, objectively, the Leafs should trade for Cody Eakin. Lots of experience and can probably get him at a reasonable price.
