After new Tarasenko article

Description
Jeremy Rutherford (from the Athletic) just wrote a new article about the Tarasenko situation.

A quick recap:
-8 of 10 teams VT would be traded to: NYI, NYR, VGK, BOS, PHI, TBL, WSH, FLA.
-Tampa is apparently his preference (as it would be for most skilled Russians, lol, but that's not happening for obvious reasons)
-Doug Armstrong loses a lot of leverage if Tarasenko gets through the expansion draft unclaimed by Seattle. (VT has a NTC, not a NMC, so the only control STL has over his destination is if he's taken by SEA in the expansion draft)
-It would be ideal for them to trade him (and potentially Dunn) before the expansion draft so (A) he does not waste a protection spot, and (B) they could avoid using a draft pick to entice Seattle to take him.
-Potential returns for VT would be: from NYI (Leddy, because STL has a need on LD), from NYR (Kreider, but he has a NMC and is being paid $6.5M until he's 35), from BOS (DeBrusk, Frederic), from WSH (Kuznetsov, but he has more term and a higher cap hit).

For the Isles, the idea of a Leddy + more for Tarasenko makes a whole lot of sense. For one, they get a return for Leddy without losing him for nothing to SEA. They would then protect Tarasenko and leave Eberle exposed to SEA. If SEA doesn't take Eberle, the Isles would have to shop him or do some other crazy cap maneuvers.
-The other moves here are very likely and reasonable: Parise to NYI on a cheap deal, and Suter to NYI on a reasonable deal (Suter is reunited with Trotz and wants to play for a contender).
-The Isles will try to dump Komarov and/or Hickey, and will probably need to attach a 3rd rounder to do so.

If Lou can get Tarasenko back in a Leddy+ package...Heart Eyes

I suppose anything is possible. I just don't see why STL would want another LD. But if their end goal is to free up the space ASAP, Leddy is the only expiring deal of the bunch of offers that could be out there.

Yeah I hope to god the Blues don't do that for Tarasenko, Leddy stinks

If we're trading with the Islanders I'm gunning for a package around Beauviller or Eberle. Don't want Leddy unless you want Scandella with Tarasenko (you do not)

Literally everyone but Andy greene and dal colle are under paid by 1-2 mill. Pelech seems to be a hot commodity for an offer sheet this year so you are probably gonna have to over pay. Beauvillier will get atleast 5 mill sorokin 3.5+ mill cizikas 3 mill
Suter is still a very solid dman and will have lots of teams wanting him atleast 3+ mill for him and parise will get atleast 2 mill

Evolving hockey has Beauvillier getting under 4 mill on a 2 year deal, but he'll probably get term so it will be closer to 5 mill.

Offer sheets are talked about every year and it rarely happens, pelech probably gets closer to 5.5-5.75 mill on a long term deal.

My thought process is that Parise and Suter are at the end of their careers, not going to have to worry about money considering the buyouts, and want to play on a contender. The Lou-Parise connection is just too obvious and Parise will probably being in Suter's ear about playing for Lou and Trotz. I feel like Beauvillier's deal is fair, he has not been consistent enough to fetch more than $5M on a long term deal, so give him a bridge to prove that consistency. And for Pelech, Brandon Carlo's $4.1Mx6 should be a floor for his deal. Similar styles, Pelech is better, so he should get more than $4.1 and perhaps even more term

Worst they can say is no smile

Columbus asked for Dach and Debrincat for Jones, and Lou did just give up a guy who got Norris votes for two second round picks less than a year ago. No one knows what they're doing out here.

Yeah the Devon Toews trade was terrible, but Lou/trotz overreacted to a bad playoff performance. They viewed him as a 2nd pair defenseman, which is wrong but it is what it is.

Lou/Trotz value playoff performers and Beauvilier was the isles most clutch player in the playoffs - he's just as important to what the isles do as Barzal. I highly doubt the isles would accept even if STL offered tarasenko + 1st for Beauvillier.
