Description
According to published reports...
Calgary MAY have interest in Tarasenko, Dunn, & a pick or prospect for Tkachuk, but Tarasenko won't go to Calgary.
Washington would do Kuznetsov-for-Tarasenko straight up, so do that, then send Kuznetsov (800k retained to match salary), Dunn, & 2nd next year for Matthew Tkachuk.
Blues reportedly have major interest in Landeskog if he becomes UFA.
Seattle won't take Scandella willingly, so Blues add Sanford as a sweetner.
Oleksiak is a monster who thrives with puck-moving D partners, like Parayko.

Flames laugh. We have no need/want for Kuzy

I know the caps called about tarasenko but I do not see a fit in a Kuzy trade. I think STL would need to add

If Tarasenko won't go to Calgary, neither would Kuznetsov.

If the Flames inquire on Tarasenko it would likely be for Monahan. Something like that.

Lol what? how does swapping Tank with Kuzy make Calgary any more likely to make a horrible trade?

Good luck outbidding other teams for Gabriel Landeskogs service. Calgary declines and doubtful Caps can do the Tarasenko deal.

Flames very easily decline that garbage trade, the flames have said many many times tkachuk is untouchable

Drop the MT trade. Sign landeskog and trade Tarasenko for someone who can play second line winger (i.e. Smith from Vegas or someone from the East). Dunn will get a 1st from DET or NJD

Yeah no the caps absolutely would not do one for one for Tarasenko.

Point to one quote that says he's untouchable.

Here's one direct from Treliving :

I’m certainly open to exploring any avenue available to make our team better. We didn’t meet the expectations we had of our team, so we’ve got to look at how we can make it better.”

"The Capitals are also a possibility for Tarasenko, with the rumored one-for-one swap for Evgeny Kuznetsov being the Caps’ preferred choice. "

I didn't make it up. Jeremy Rutherford got it from someone he believes, & he doesn't just throw random stuff against the wall.

Because Kuznetsov is a better center than Monahan, who could/should also be moved.

How could you know that? He only has a 15 team no trade. That's 16 possibilities. Tarasenko has a full no trade. He gets to choose

And Kuzy being slightly better than Monahan makes Calgary consider this awful trade why?

Kuznetsov & Monahan both hit the NHL in 13‐14. Since then, they've played 520 games & 591 games, respectively. Here's how they rank for centers (min. 400 GP)

Pts/60 :
EK - 7th (2.21, tied w/ Tavares, just behind Mackinnon)
SM - 30th (1.87, between JT Miller & William Karlsson)

Assists/60
EK - 2nd (1.55, only McJesus is better)
SM - 54th ( 1.00, just ahead of Carl Soderberg)

On-Ice GF%
EK - 6th (57.6, just ahead of Crosby)
SM - 56th (50.4, just ahead of Bryan Little)

Monahan is 2 yrs younger, but also a UFA in 2 yrs. Kuznetsov is signed for 4 more years, and in my trade StL retained 800k in salary to balance things out.

Point is, maybe you don't like the deal, but let's not pretend Kuznetsov isn't a real upgrade over Monahan.

I like how you ignore goals/60 here

Not to mention Kuzy's massive character issues is the last thing Calgary needs

I didn't ignore Goals. Monahan is 14th, Kuznetsov is 53rd. A center's responsibility leans more towards puck distribution, (unless you're on the level of Crosby, Mackinnon, McDavid, etc.) though, so setting up teammates tends to be a greater indicator of value there.

That doesn't make any sense, a center's responsibility is to play to their strengths, if a center is a natural goal scorer then they play in a way that allows them to score goals. Don't see anyone complaining about Point, Matthews, or Pettersson's style

Because their style leans to distribution. They're all 3 better than Kuznetsov or Monahan. All have more A/60 than G/60, but they're such talented players, that there's not much separation between the stats. Point has nearly as many PRIMARY assists/60 has he does G/60. Pettersson actually has MORE primary assists than goals. Matthews is a unique case, because he shoots more, but he has Marner feeding him who's a pass-1st winger.

Much more often than not, the center is the distributor.

Go look at the list of goal scoring leaders. Almost to a man, they've got more goals than primary assists.

No, you said Caps would not do 1‐for-1. Regardless if you think it's terrible or not, MY point stands that someone put it out there that they would do it.

Ok and what about Seguin and Pavelski, both are known goal scoring centers. Also as for Matthews having Marner, is that not at least somewhat similar to Monahan having Gaudreau? Or Zibanejad having Panarin?

A center's duty isn't to distribute the puck

How many Russian players are on the Flames? How many Russian players have played for the Flames in the past decade?

Most players don’t want to play in Canada, that’s just a fact. There’s a very high chance neither wants to go to Calgary

Buddy, you said that I said you made it up lmao. I never said you made it up. And no, the capitals are not going to trade Kuznetsov for Tarasenko one for one because some idiot reporter said so. It’s a terrible trade for the caps. That’s why they won’t do it. We don’t need a winger. We need a center coming back. And we’re likely not trading Kuznetsov anyway so it doesn’t even matter.
