A bunch of 3rd pairing D would be top 4 on Montréal right now. That doesn’t mean we should be going out and giving Travis Hamonic or Alex Goligoski $6 million. Danault is the centre with all the toughest matchups, and he plays the most, which is pretty good evidence that he is the #1C.

I’m not so sure that Compher is a better player than Jake Evans, but even if he is, he’s also making over 4 times as much money as him.

ej can play 2nd pair on habs no problem. with weber out he's better than everyone except petry. bergevin knows if he follows up a stanley cup final with missing the playoffs he's out of a job so there is a lot of pressure on his end.

compher is without a doubt a better player than evans. on top of that is evans even healthy yet.

Evans had a single concussion, not anything major. He was healthy and played in the Stanley Cup Final. But again, is Compher 4 times the player Evans is? Absolutely not.

And Montréal can get better players than Johnson as UFAs for less money. Plus Johnson probably won’t waive his NMC to leave Colorado.

habs can't afford hamilton long term and i think he'd rather not play in a big canadian market given how media has treated him in the past. hertl's a option but you're going to have to give up high end pieces where here you're only giving up reserve nhler's.

We can find better replacements then those 2 guys, Poehling going to be just as good as Compher if not better, Johnson is on a crap contract, We can go out and sign Barrie to play on our top 6. this is a bad trade for MTL and it's not even debatable

poehling unlikely to be better. comphers numbers were better in every part of his career. i'd say compher is probably poehlings realistic ceiling.

yea ej's contract is crap but that's why the avs are taking back kulak's crap contract too. so it's only $4m difference which isn't far off his actual value.

well he's a 6th/7th dman so he's overpaid and i'm not sure he's any better than macdonald who is a 1/3rd the price. id rather the avs not take him and have the cap space but did that so it's a bit easier on the habs. you can keep him if you want him.

I'll keep him over taking EJ contract, I also rather keep Poehling over trading for Compher, We can find a better top 4 D to replace Weber than EJ, I'll take Compher but I won't give up Poehling for him and I won't take EJ, I'm fine with Compher but not EJ

poehling isn't necessary. tuch, mysak, ylonen, olofsson all work. avs don't need d prospects but even they could work too.
