First off. no way Reinhart signs that. Two, no way that Skinner contract is coming to the Kings (they will have their hands full with Doughty in a few years). Three, losing Vilardi and the 8th overall, and the Kings still don't have a top LD and limited cap space for the coming year. Sorry, but these moves would get Blake fired.

Buffalo most likely won't sell the Skinner contract. They don't have a Cap issue if anything they need it to stay off the cap floor and in a rebuild the first it worth more. Plus the rather get full value in a trade.

We have no need to pay to get rid of skinner right now. We are about to be 20+ million under the cap with him.

I understand the cost to move Skinner. No way I would pay it. Skinner has 2 years to regain enough value that he can be moved with some retention, otherwise he just gets bought out.

I agree with you, if it was next years or the year afters first overall, it wouldn't be on the table at all. And even though I agree, its still not worth it for us to do it, he can get us to the cap floor for the next 2 years and then be bought out without too much fuss. Its not like we have a chance of being good, the only way to maximize the return on eichel and Reinhart is to take high value futures, and futures by definition aren't here now.

Don't talk up losing the 8th pick as if it has tons of value then dump on the 1st pick.

With a flat cap and teams in trouble with the expansion draft, there are better deals out there than this for LA. I also don’t see Reinhart taking 5x5.

I figured my guess at a new Reinhart contract would be my biggest flaw. The loss of #8 is a pick swap for #1, so Owen Power would be your future LD (after his season at Michigan). And the upgrades at forward without losing Byfield or Turcotte would make us a playoff team in a weak division as long as the kids continue to develop. Don't think you fire he GM that returns you to the playoffs without mortgaging the future

No one is arguing against that, but Skinner at $9M until 2026-27 is just too much.

The biggest problem here is Skinner, but the difference between a top-3 pick and a top-10 pick in this draft really isn't that far with rankings all over the place.
