Description
NJ doesn't land any big fish or make a blockbuster trade but in line with recent reporting they make a substantial effort to compete for a late playoff spot. Build a team which is much more sound defensively with strong goaltending to make up for offensive deficiencies in short term. Ultimately an offensive defenseman (Luke Hughes?) will round out that defense to provide more of an offensive spark. But for now with a young team you have a shutdown first pair, a high upside second pair, and a solid defensive third pair with two very good goalies.

Staying the course offensively but inserting two very important vets with familiarity to help the team compete. Coleman is worth an overpay and with Henrique they can instill some culture in the room about what the crest means and how to win. Let the next generation take the spotlight but when crap hits the fan you can go to guys who have been there and know what it takes to win.

    Subban and Gally won't get along. Rather not trade for Subban and just keep the chemistry we have going

    Absolutely not. We’re not wasting $5 million in cap space on that piece of crap when there’s so much available in the UFA market.

    Ha I forgot about the beef those two have. I'm sure like professionals they could get past it and laugh about it unless there is something deep rooted we don't know about. But also I get not wanting to mess with the mojo of a team coming off a Finals run, especially with a guy like PK who has a big personality.

    I wouldn't mind Subban back, But as long as him and Gally would agree to get along

    Maybe Bergevin can add a condition that the deal is only finalized after those two have a bro sesh and hug it out.
