He sucks; even as expansion fodder, Leivo would've been the better choice. Still, now that CGY meets the expansion draft requirements, this signing isn't harmful in any way.

Leivo was atrocious this year, he had exactly one good game all season and more than a fair amount of opportunities on a scoring line with Gaudreau and Monahan. Simon looked even worse. Ritchie isn’t gonna provide any sort of depth scoring but at least he’s physical and looks like less trying out there. Definitely the best of our depth guys this year. Shouldn’t be higher than 4RW but he’s solid in that role. Probably a league min guy, but the extra 150k is because it had to get done prior to the expansion draft to meet exposure requirements, so that’s fine. It likely won’t impact Calgary’s off-season plans and can be fully buried still.

LOL, I got him confused with Nick Ritchie for a second

Was like, how did they get him from Boston? and for only 900K,

Yeah it's not great lol, we shot several bullets (Nordstrom, Ritchie, Leivo, Simon, Rinaldo, Robinson) in the hopes that one or two of them would be solid, and Ritchie's physicality was the only plus. Just the way things go sometimes I guess, hopefully the guys they take a chance on this off-season are a little better.

Just an extra scratch forward. Can't hurt to bring back some depth. Good signing.

I am quite happy with the deal as a flames fan. He is solid in the role he plays in. He may not be the flashiest player, but he definitely provides some depth to our roster.

If he is gonna be protected over Dube - im gonna be incredibly pissed. Even though Seattle would take Giordano or Tanev most likely but still
