I’d love to get rid of Bishops contract hit but a first rounder is a little steep imho

My humble guess is that there is no need to give stuff to Seattle to "force" them to take Bishop.

Bishop will go on LTIR this fall and probably for the rest of his career. He will be 35 years old soon and always had injuries to his legs. For a goaltender, this is pretty serious career ending stuff.

In mid June, All teams submitted an injury exemption list to Seattle. If Bishop was done for his career (or perceived to be) he would be on the list. Other names not on the list were Toews and Klefblom.

I believe this to be a bold move to keep Bishop and Dobby. If Seattle picks Bishop, it’s because the gamble for him is greater than other players. This is interesting when it comes to Faksa or Dickinson being protected. I think Dallas exposes Faksa. Then it’s either Faksa or Bishop, shedding cap while losing a good player, which gives space to sign a need. If Miro gets a bridge, then you have even more space.

If Dallas protects Faksa, and gets to keep Bishop, Dobby, and Faksa, while also signing Miro to 8 years… There is little to no money to address needs.

That’s my take, at least.

If Bishop, and Nill & Co, we’re pretty confident to see him back between the pipes, than the ideal solution would present itself in having Bishop and Oettinger next year. That would be an incredible duo, probably one of the Top 5 duo in the entire NHL.

Bishop, healthy, is elite so it makes no sense, anyway for me, to expose him IF he is healthy.

We also have no clue how Bishop will play from being out so long. Safer to let him go and let Dobi stay

If you look at who makes the playoffs and who doesn’t , you see a mid pack group that are two or three wins in or out. It’s extremely tight. If Bishop isn’t good day one, and Dobby is drafted, you have Oettinger and a call up of Steel (I believe). Even if it’s for a two week span, a few extra losses (or OTL) and you are trying to come from behind at the end of season.

Dallas will have Bishop/Oettinger, Bishop/Dobby, or Dobby/Oettinger. Guaranteed.

I would be tempted to expose Faksa, even though a trade prior could fix some areas of concern. Faksa has value to the right team.

Well, Miro got 8. Stars need to shed cap. I could see Bishop being drafted by Seattle and Faksa traded. The next two weeks will be interesting.
