Woulda liked to see 2-3 years but solid AAV for a guy fighting for a 3C role.

Hopefully he can earn himself a larger role with his play. Meanwhile, I'm hoping he does not go to Seattle.
He's got more "upside" than Donato for me personally; I would rather see Donato exposed or traded.

He's totally gonna end up in Washington lol

Liked Gamby in his final year here though, he didn't score much but he took a rather big step last year.

Literally why. He was below replacement and doesn’t deserve a lick over 750

Huh? Did you watch the Sharks this year? Gambrell took a huge step and looked like he belonged. He played with confidence, speed and determination. Granted he is likely going to Seattle but I would be pleased if he stayed.

I think he played well enough for a real deal. He might just go to the Kraken though. I think this is a good signing for someone who will eventually become a 3rd line forward. Maybe they could've got him on a 2-way deal, but it's still not a bad contract by any means.

Gambrell proved he was an NHLer last year, he's not going back to the AHL.

But he wasnt. He played a ton of minutes but he was generally awful. He was positive defensivly, but a black hole in the O zone. At his best hes a 4th line center, but in reality he hasnt proven he belongs in the NHL. Doug didnt think far enough ahead and got bullied into giving him more money.

you implied it when mentioning a two-way contract.

I have to disagree there. Sure the points didn't come but he really showed that he is trending in the right direction. Most of the time when he was on the ice he drove his line forward and played very good defensively. He is not going to get 30 points as he is a defensive bottom sixer in the NHL.

I dont have a problem with keeping him, but hes not worth anymore than 750k, and the only reason he got this is Doug didnt plan to have enough exposures and got railroaded into giving him more money to meet requirements. That kind of not planning and giving out bad deals is what ruined this team and continues too

Still doesn't mean I think he goes to the AHL. I was just saying they could've lowballed him since he's still young. He probably deserved over 1 mil though.
