Thank you greatly for this response! Quick question, what the heck happened to Lassi Thomson for him to not even be top 14 sens prospects?
Many Sens fans think he was taken too high at 19th OA. He has a pretty nice toolset but his hockey sense/IQ is average at best, which will prevent him from being a top pairing D-man. I think he's more likely a 3rd pairing offensive D-man. 2nd pairing is not out of the question but that would really be best case scenario IMO
And this list is not the prospect pool, it's the under-25 y/o players (includes Chabot, Batherson and Tkachuk, White, Mete, etc)
Here's the prospect pool Sens fans voted in December 2020 just after the draft and before the season
- Tim Stutzle
- Jake Sanderson
- Drake Batherson
- Josh Norris
- Erik Brannstrom
- Logan Brown
- Jacob Bernard-Docker
- Alex Formenton
- Shane Pinto
- Ridly Greig
- Roby Jarventie
- Rudolfs Balcers
- Vitali Abramov
- Joey Daccord
- Lassi Thomson
- Egor Sokolov
- Tyler Kleven
- Filip Chlapik
- Mads Søgaard
- Filip Gustavsson
- Max Lajoie
- Kevin Mandolese
- Angus Crookshank
- Maxence Guénette
- Jonathan Davidsson
- Leevi Merilainen
- Jonny Tychonick
- Philippe Daoust
- Parker Kelly
- Mark Kastelic
Thomson was voted 15th, a few guys before are gone or have graduated and even if the Sens have the 10th OA pick and 2 early 2nds in the draft next week, Thomson should make the top-15 again. No chance for the top-10 though as there is a few guys who were voted below that have seen their stock rise during the season (Sokolov, Kleven, Sogaard, Gustavsson and Crookshank notably. Guenette, Daoust and Merilainen are getting closer too). Actually, not even sure he makes the top-15 lol. And Thomson wasn't bad at all in his AHL rookie season, it's just that the Sens pool is an embarassment of riches at the moment.
