Good trade for both teams. This also, in effect, significantly limits Seattle's options in the ED. Best option for them now may be Compher. Best defenseman available for Seattle to pick will likely be Brady Skjei in Carolina and Carson Soucy in Minnesota, unless Minnesota goes 8-1 (Fiala, Eriksson Ek, Greenway, Zuccarello, Brodin, Spurgeon, Dumba, Soucy, Kahkonen) and exposes Hartman/Sturm/Foligno instead.

Makes sense for both teams. More cap space for the Avs, a clear opening in the lineup for Byram and getting good value back for him instead of losing him for nothing to Seattle.

Really like this move for Jersey though. Improves their blueline greatly, should be a nice counter to the more offensive minded Smith on the left side.

High ranked pick and promising non-eligible prospect for a guy COL would lose anyway. Giordano and Soucy should be moved the same way.

Great deal for both sides. Avs clear cap for Landeskog, Makar, and Grub, while New Jersey adds a solid defenseman that they can now protect from Seattle. Pretty fair trade here. This offseason is going to be wild and we're just looking at the tip of the iceberg.
