Honestly Edmonton fans should be scared rn as with the reports Hymans agent wants a contract for him in the 6mill for 7 YEAR range and with Holland reportedly willing to give a 3rd for his rights thats concerning. That spells DAVID CLARKSON or Lucic 2.0 contract and sure they got the space but space aint gonna be there forever.

Not better no. Graves is an insane penalty killer. Look at it this way. You lose Graves either way, trade or not. Is Maltsev and a 2nd worth Johnson, who you lose in the expansion draft? Considering that you get 6M in cap space, maybe it is. You still have an amazing D corps. It's a two way argument

Seattle would not take Johnson. Graves is not really good on the PK actually. Maltsev+2nd is too much for Johnson unless COL retain some $ to move Johnson (if he did not have a NMC).

Avs fans will like Maltsev. Will be more than just a throw-in with this deal. Big body, plays a little physical, but more of someone who can push through opponents' physicality. He can play along boards, protect puck, is a sneaky good stick-handler for man his size, can play center and LW. He showed a few glimpses of his shot developing, a nice quick release. If Devils have traded Miles Wood, Maltsev would have been the replacement that made Wood expendable.

If Maltsev makes the Avs roster out of camp, I'd say trade leans COL.
