That Giroux Flyers deal seems weird. They're moving back 12 spots to swap Giroux and Patrick for Greenway? That doesn't seem like something they'd be interested in. I would imagine they'd want to re-sign Giroux, but even if they don't, it doesn't make sense for them to use him to move back half a round.

A cap dump. They likely need some cap moving forward. But I ll add.

I don't think Minnesota adding more is the answer, personally. I don't think Giroux is attainable. By all accounts, it sounds like Voracek is the guy they're trying to move for cap purposes.

Giroux is simply not a cap dump... He would have been second in points on the wild last year...

But you are hectically trying to ship Voracek who also has nearly the same point total. Looks like I do not get something

I mean, if you wanna sign Hamilton and resign Sanheim and Hart and get a good goalie to play for Hart you need some more cap.

The other thing you have to consider is that, if Giroux and Voracek are similar quality players, Giroux's contract ends after this season, and he'll get less on his next contract. Voracek has three years left on his. So they get far more cap relief over the next several seasons from trying to move Voracek now and re-signing Giroux than they do from just moving Giroux. And Giroux is their captain.

The value is way, way, way off on the Philly trades. The fact you're equating Voracek and Giroux based off of their point totals exclusively tells me you aren't properly evaluating their players

I already fixed the trade, but Philly needs to move somebody anyways. Dumba - Konecny wise, I may add a 3rd.

Fixed that. What about Dumoulin?

There are more realistic options to be moved than Giroux looks like they're trying to move Voracek and JVR although slightly overpaid is a moveable piece since there are only two years left and he's still productive. Also I'd rather have Konecny over Dumba especially when there really isn't a protection spot for Dumba in Philly

I don't have any emotional attachment to either McBain or the 3rd, and I don't know enough about Dumoulin to gauge whether it's good for us or whether Pittsburgh would do it. It's in line with what we probably need to do though to get some depth down the left side.

The other comment I have is that I don't think we can afford to trade Jones. After Lindberg leaving, we have very little goalie depth, and Jones is a potential starter, so we probably need to keep him.

A 3rd doesn't change the Konecny-Dumba trade. Konecny is younger making less with more term and more consistent performances over the last several seasons. He's the 2nd best young forward in the organization and I can't see them moving him for anything other than a top pairing defenseman, which Dumba really isn't at this point. Prospects and draft capital would be what Philly would be willing to send for Dumba, not Konecny

I still hope that they would be able to convince Lindberg to stay. I just will not believe that until it is official in August

I'm not a Philly fan so no "you" here. But Voracek has three years remaining and declining goal totals to single digits this year.

Calling Giroux a cap dump is just silly
