The Eichel deal is far too easy to outbid. Not a single A+ piece in the deal. With the 1st being so late, I'd think you're minimally looking at two 1sts. Buffalo probably takes a lesser deal centered around a top 10 pick or A+ prospect over this deal.

That said, depending on other offers it is in the realm of possible. It would depend on just how urgent the Sabres want to get rid of Eichel and if they're willing to get stupid like the O'Reilly deal.

A way to rework it and make it bigger would be to have Buffalo retain in any Fleury deal for an additional asset from the acquiring team.

You really want Matheson at that cap hit? Have to be better things you can do with that money.

Buffalo declines for multiple reasons.

Stephenson, Chandler (1 solid year after waiver pick up)
Glass, Cody (nigh-bust prospect)
Ferguson, Dylan (Human)
2021 1st round pick (VGK) (30th OA so more or less a glorified 2nd)
2021 2nd round pick (NJD) (a 2nd)

Nothing in this offer gives anything to Buffalo that isn't something we have in spades already.

Not sure the Rangers really want Reaves.

Been tons of Reaves and Kassian trades to the Rangers as a response to the Tom Wilson situation. But might not be necessary.

And even if they were interested, they could get him for less than a 3rd Rounder.

Gotcha. LMK after I rework it.

What do you think about the signings-Jeannot, Wennberg, Ryan?

Reworked Eichel deal. Pit has too many defensemen to protect and Matheson (relic of Rutherford) is the odd man out. I liked him in Pit and he’d thrive in VGK’s offensive system.

I’m not sure anyone likes Reaves but the Rangers have said physicality is an improvement that they want to make and Gallant has history with him. I don’t like his playing style and I don’t think management likes it either. They’ll be looking to give him away. The incident with Graves was the last straw.

New trade is definitely better, now all we need is Krebs for Glass and you have yourself a solid offer.
