You aren't going to get a Konecny for Dumba + 3rd rounder.

Here’s my take that I know others will disagree with. If you’re going after Eichel, you’re presumably in win now mode. And if that’s the case, I struggle to justify moving Fiala.

There are very few assets we have that I’d rather keep over Fiala if the Wild are in win now mode.

IMO, in any scenario where we acquire Eichel, we also need to find a way to keep Fiala .

You can't acquire Eichel without moving Fiala if you want any kind of prayer at remaining competitive. You'd have 50% of the cap tied up in three players (40M for Eichel, Kaprizov, Fiala, Parise, Suter; not even mentioning another 18M for Ek, Spurgeon, Brodin) at that point for three years. You cannot ice a team with any depth whatsoever. You're filling in the gaps with fourth liners.

Agreed if we go after eichel then it will be centered around greenway, boldy/rossi and pick(s) plus rask for cap balancing.

Yeah that’s brutal. I’ve mocked it up both ways, keeping Fiala and trading, and really can’t field a great team either way. I don’t think we should be going after Eichel regardless.

Completely agree. Eichel doesn't make sense for us at this time unless the value is so lopsided in our favor that we can't possibly say no.

We all know that Kap has already turned down a 8year 9mil offer, he wants a bridge deal 2-3years. if we don't bring in a 1c he is gone. I don't necessarily think Eichel is the best fit either but there doesn't seem to be a lot of other alternatives. I fear if we wait to see what Rossi has it might be to late. Ideally id love to somehow make a play for Barkov but that is highly unlikely...pipe dreams!

Do you think the wild should look to trade for a center? Or pick up someone in UFA? Or neither?

    This year that is.

"You're filling in the gaps with fourth liners"

No, you'd need to fill in the gaps with players making under 1mill/year...

So, basically, fourth liners...? You only have so many guys on ELC's you can use. For Minnesota, that's two at most.

two at most? I'm assuming you're referring to Boldy and Rossi? and talking about this coming season?? the cap issue wouldn't be for this season, but 2, 3, and 4 years from now... You're already projecting that the Wild wouldn't have any other prospects that could be ready 2, 3, and 4 years from now? outside of Boldy and Rossi, you don't think Beckman would be ready anytime in the next 2-3 years? or Khusnutdinov? Khovanov? or even Dewar, Shaw, Duhaime, or Chaffee? The wild already have a pretty deep prospect pool, which means they could afford Eichel's 10mill and fill in the roster with ELC's that ARENT projected/actual 4th liners.

What about BUF retaining a portion of the Eichel contract if we are dealing picks and established players to help alleviate some of cap hit in the 2-4 years?
