Wings will take one or the other for a 2nd. If you want us to take both, you would have to add.

He doesn’t fit the roster at all. I love him but he is literally a little more skilled Anders Lee.

Lol that’s rich. They both can be bought out for under 2.5m collectively. That’s fair value.

100% agree. i don’t think there’s a fit for him on the team unless you move anders, and if landeskog is going to be more expensive then i’d rather just keep anders.

A extra 2.5m would put you 2.3 over the cap limit, so what LTIR magic you going to work/ what signing are you not going to make to get under the cap

That Wings trade isn't part of the Yzerplan. Everyone wants to dump their garbage in Detroit for next to nothing.

Detroit got a 2nd from the Rangers for taking on Marc Staal's $5.7MM cap hit. Leo and Hickey combined are only $5.5MM, so that trade actually seems pretty reasonable.

Staal was actually useful in Detroit, he averaged 19+ minutes a game and played quite well. Neither of those players would be playing. Also that's 2 roster spots out of the 50 contract limit that it is taking up. If we buy them out then that's 2 years with cap hit. Staal was only 3.2M in actually cash, this would be 4.5M. About 3.0M total cash with the buy out but have cap hits for two years. Plus this second round pick is later in the round so the value isn't as high. Probably need another second or a prospect. A guy like Wilde would be of interest to Detroit.
Also if you think just cause we have alot of cap space that we would take this guys for this price like alot of people do, we would be just happy keeping all the space for the season and not spending the money.

Both guys can still play. Komorov is still a useful bottom 6 guy who can kill penalties, and the only reason Hickey didn't play more last year was the depth the Isles had ahead of him; he was decent the handful of games he played in. I'm not saying Detroit would definitely do the trade as is, but those two for a second is in the ballpark based on past precedent.

Also, there's absolutely no reason for Detroit to just sit on a bunch of cap space if they want to improve - they should be using it to buy up any picks or prospects they can get their hands on

I feel they should use every dollar of cap space personally, but there are alot of teams with cap issues, can't just give it away for cheap. Komarov probably wouldn't have roster spot in Detroit, we have enough bottom six guys, Hickey could play though. I don't think it's too far off but just feel it should be a bit more, maybe a third on top is fair middle ground.
The Ladd trade is far off though, bellows isn't that great of a player but I don't care about Ottawa so meh.

Ottawa needs more to take on that Ladd contract.

5.5M for 2 years for an AHL player is horrible value, a 3rd and a fringe prospect aren’t enough
