Just saw Mercer's most unsettling prospect card from a prospect projection model, said that he's like 1/5 for making the NHL. This is rather distressing. Have any of you guys seen him play this year?

I mean he was never really going to be more than a bottom 6 guy anyways so nbd

For a guy picked in the top 20 in a great draft , he should be a 2nd line projected player.

Mercer will definitely not be a bust haha. The guy (at a minimum) will be a phenomenal PKer. But to me, He will be our future 3C or 2nd line RW. The kid is a gamer.

He looked fine at world Juniors and his Q numbers are solid. You are reading into this way to much

You make it sound like drafts aren't the most random thing in the world and a player taken in the 20s has more than a 50% chance to make it into the NHL at any level at all.

Mercer never had the tool kit to be a top 6 player. He is all effort pick that would max out on the 3rd line and you would take that all day

I haven't watched him play but based on his stats and achievements this season, he's NOT going to be a bust

I also want to note that the QMJHL does not track well analytically. Projections need to be taken with a substantial amount of salt: it's a very run-and-gun league which will 100% overshadow other contributions.
