That's honestly not a bad price for a team that could use Kerfoot, but the Preds have more than enough middle and bottom of the roster forward depth. Top 6 is the area where they could use an upgrade. NSH declines.

Are McCann and ZAR really that big upgrades from Kerfoot, Mikheyev and Engvall though?

McCann is certainly an upgrade on Kerfoot imo. Offensively, the Leafs need more from the 3C spot and if 34/91 were to get hurt and miss time, I'd be much more comfortable with McCann filling in than anyone the Leafs have now. If the cap space was there I'd ideally keep Kerfoot as the 2LW but it's not possible.

Mikheyev is a good skater who can't finish, basically a poor man's Kapanen, and Engvall is another one who I would like to see them keep if possible but Aston-Reese plays excellent defence and is at least a little bit better offensively than those guys.

I mean offensively speaking Kerfoot just outscored Matthews in the latest playoffs.

In a vacuum I'd probably take McCann over Kerfoot too, but if I had to pay two seconds for their difference with also swapping Mikheyev and Engvall for only ZAR, I wouldn't do it. The difference between the two is not that high to me.

I would not trade niemela. He was literally defenceman of the tournament and looked amazing. Look at some of the names that have won that. I think he’s got a future here.

So McCann and ZAR have a cap of 4.7m. Leafs are much better keeping Mikheyev, keeping Niemela the two pick and having 3m in cap to get a 3rd line centre. What is the fascination about other teams 3rd liners. Besides if those two Penquins are sssssoooooo good wouldn't one be selected by Seattle?

No. So many Leaf fan think other team bottom enders are so much better than their own.

My thoughts exactly. The bottom feeders are not where the problems lie in Toronto.

Since the playoff exit, we have seen so many posts wanting to give away Engvall Mikheyev, Dermot and Holl....their total caps is 6.25m somehow these players get traded and the Leafs either trade for players that are no better (often that cost more) or the Leaf sign UFA well below market price.

By the way,,,how's summer in Finland?. Where are you working now?

Yep. These guys mentioned here are no difference makers in any way or another. With the way Leafs is built, they just have to take in some filler players with minimal cap hit.

As for the summer, it has been HOT. Like a record breaking hot. Usually known as a cold nation but we've hit like 30C or 86F on a daily basis for a month now, which is something that has happened only once in my lifetime. The most annoying thing about that is the fact that regular apartments here are built the way that they preserve the heat for cold winters, meaning indoors especially are like freaking saunas pretty much 24/7 in here, and it's nearly impossible to cool it down as nights are also so warm right now. It's driving me nuts.

As I started to study back in January, currently I'm not working anywhere. Just having a summer break here and charging some batteries.

Thanks for writing. Now I know why Finland had more saunas per capita than any country, it's the design of the apartments.

Been pretty lovely here. Some heat then a nice moderation. Been doing some cottaging, fishing and boating. Today I trimmed back much of the leafy vegetation that has taken over my yard. Right now, I'm on the back deck with a cold cider listening to the girlfriend on the phone.

I mean saunas and Finland go together like meth dealers and Florida. There are just too much of those in both places to the point where they just don't make sense. Almost every household I know outside the capital area of Finland has one, and in the capital area usually several apartments share one in their housing block. We even have some sauna rafts here which can be pulled up to a certain lake and it floats on there. You can just relax in there and when things get too hot you can just open the door and jump to the lake to cool down. They're very popular too.

Wish I had a cottage somewhere around here to just chill around, but as a poor student I could never afford one. I used to go fishing with my grandpa when I was a kid but he's in no condition to do it anymore and I'm pretty miserable when doing such things on my own lol.
