Good someone for Barzel to play with Trotz be thinking rn wink

Wings also finally get a proper LD to play with Hronek or Seider. Despite the numbers still better than what they had before.

So that should put to rest the notion that Yzerman is an unbeatable GM.
That's a meaty L he just took.

Yzerman with a rare whiff.

Amazing deal for the Isles by Lou.

That's a pick Detroit could have ACTUALLY used - for an actual upgrade or a selection, instead they throw it away.

Don't worry, somehow Leddy will now turn into an Elite #1 defender

Islanders win big here. Leddy is not a good all around defender.

Yzerman is going to find a way to make this look like a W.

Great deal by Detroit! Retain and flip Leddy at deadline for a 1st or multiple picks. Helps on the left side this year and we only moved a 2nd in a crapshoot draft. Yzerman does it again.

He'll flip Leddy for a 1st + or something at the TD

Leddy nets Detroit an easy 2nd and maybe more next deadline in what will be a batter draft and we shed panik. Seems like a win for Detroit. Also fills a need for Detroit.

Great Trade for the Isles. That's a quite large return for Nick Leddy. This is a win for the Islanders without a doubt about it.

You’re talking hypotheticals. This is a trade that just happened - what you explain is a “hope” or a “idea”. This is not a good trade until proven otherwise. Saying it’s an “easy” pivot is ambitious seeing as we have no idea what the market will be nor if Leddy has a good year, and even Leddy could get injured.

That's fair, but is it not the same as trading for a prospect? We don't know the results of the trade until years later

Regardless of the deadline moving a late 2nd on a garbage draft to add a top 4 guy is a solid move. Detroit needs help on the left side and he will net some sort of return at the deadline. Seems like a no brainer.

You took a replacement level player with a large cap hit off a team with major cap issues and paid to do it. Even if Yzerman gets a great haul for him at the deadline it doesn't change the fact that he took a huge L here

Detroit needs to get to the floor and adds a solid top 4 guy to do it. Could care less about the Isles. It helps Detroit this year and gives them a piece to move at the next deadline. Leddy has been solid for years, and contributes consistently.

Completely different? He is talking - "well we could trade him for xyz at TDL". As opposed to saying "we did trade him for prospect jane doe".
We have zero idea what the future holds. As opposed to saying "I got a prospect for him" this is "well we may get a prospect for him".
