Wow I hate that Schmidt contract, I think I would still do it cause I like the 22 draft and Vancouver is far from a playoff lock but that's a tough swallow especially in the last 2 years.

He had a down yr in Van prob wasn't what we hoped. Still a 2-3 dman that we like, he has asked for a trade unfortunately for us though. Whoever gets him it'll be a steal as his perceived value is lower than it should be and Benning is clearly a numpty. The contract is totally fine. Takes him till he's 34.

Of all the players that NJ will leave exposed, losing Subban would hurt them the most so adding a first for Seattle to take him would really set them back.

Devils will not pay to move Subban.
He is a quality top-4 d-man, something we don’t have a lot of.
And our only cap concern is getting to cap floor.
