I know Dubas said he’s keeping the core together but something’s gotta change. 1st off just get rid of mikyehev and Engvall, they are USELESS on the leafs, not the bottom 6 guys we need.
Kerfoot and Holl probably exposed in Expansion and Seattle most likely takes Kerfoot. Versatile player who can play the wing in the top 6 or 3C. Great pick up and an underrated loss for the leafs. But they gain cap space.
Holl is ok but I think that ice time can go to sandin or even liljegren as we have to play these guys full time. Get a pick for holl and call it a day.
Now, don’t get cheesed Detroit fans but it is rumoured that you want Dermot and we want bertuzzi. Obviously that’s not even close to fair value so a 2022 1st which will be in the 20s somewhere, and a B level prospect in Hallander are just great assets to have when rebuilding a team (could keep them or flip them and take advantage of cap strapped teams) Do they help you now? No, but in the Atlantic, Detroit is not going anywhere for a while.
“They trade is 1 for 1.” You thought that was the big trade… NAAAAH. Get this Mitch Marner home town looking a$$ out of town. Hasn’t scored in 18 playoff games. “BuT hE fInIsHeD tOp 5 In ScOrInG?” Yeah he can go do that in Calgary. Calgary needs to hit the retool button and Matthew Tkachuk wants out. I’m not saying Marner will never find his game in the playoffs but considering the leafs already have 2 other 11M players and a winger who can do the same as Marner if given the chance, I think it’s time he says bye bye to living his childhood dream of playing in Toronto.
Lastly, a tough pill to swallow. Trading the real captain Morgan Rielly for future assets. It pains me to do it on here and it would pain me to see it but the leafs trading rielly and not allowing him to walk for nothing at the end of the season is the best option. Plus clears cap to bring DOUGIE HOME.
The signing of Saad to solidify the top 6 and potentially win another cup. Plus bonino, perry, and olesiak for depth all bring grit and two way play to a team that desperately needs it.
I know this is super unrealistic but frankly if 1 of the 3 big moves I made in this armchair come true I’ll be happy. If you read this whole thing, you’re a legend. But let me know if you think the deals are fair value. I’m ready for the heat from the Detroit/Calgary fans.
