Think that’s a fair deal with NJ. Kurashev would be another Swiss addition for us

I think these trades are very fair. I don't think L’Heureux drops that far and I also don't think Coronato gets taken that high, but we'll see.

I dont think MTL fans should be complaining since getting basically the same pick in whats supposed to be a deeper draft isnt a bad thing

Based loosely on the Athletics mock draft and the positions on here are within reason for what was presented there,

I mean I agree, but there’s always that one.

I don't think Habs fans should complain because of the deeper, in person draft and it will be hosted in Montreal

For Montreal's pick swap usually GMs are playing statistics. If I'm differing my pick a year on out, I want odds of that pick to be better or at least the same. Chicago shouldn't be as bad next year with Toews back healthy so if I'm the GM I'm giving you guys Washington's 3rd rounder (87 instead of 76) to give me at least a decent chance of not moving down too much in next year's draft. Otherwise see last year's Montreal/Tampa pick trade, it was likely that we wouldn't get a better 2nd rounder this year so they've added a 4th to make up for it.

Coronato at 11 is a spicy take, I don't know how good he is on a non stacked team.

If L'Heureux is available at 31 I almost guarantee Montreal takes him.

As a Habs fan, I am sure Bergevin will do it.

I agree but this year, there are good players who are playing in the QMJHL like L'Heureux, Bourgault, etc so maybe he will take one of them. I also like Olivier Nadeau this year who will be available with our late 2nd round picks or in the 3rd round.

Stan, I don't want to be a prisoner of the moment...nor do I think SB Nation is by any means the gospel. They came out with a pretty compelling case for Cole Sillinger. Hawks could use another power forward with a snipe, no?

Over a ppg in the WHL as a 16-17 year old. Due to COVID when to the USHL and was on the worst team in the league. Hard to be a playmaker when you're the only one that can make plays. Younger side of the draft. Physical forward.

He's gotta be like top 3 on their draft board....Maybe they go Scott Morrow if he's there but more than Likely L'Heureux because he's from the Q

I like Dean, L'Heureux and Robertson at 31st but an off the board pick I really like is Martino. A line of Martino-Suzuki-Caufield would be just deadly. Martino has Suzuki's hockey sense and Drouin's puck skills paired with 2 natural shooters that would be a deadly fast attack line.

CHI
2021 2nd round pick (SJS)
2022 3rd round pick (OTT)
2022 3rd can become a 2nd if Strome scores 45 points or OTT makes the playoffs.
OTT
Strome, Dylan

Ottawa could conceivably make the playoffs without Strome, with a healthy Murray, so that condition isn't likely, but you could switch it to something like, wins a playoff round.

I’m not against your revision, but I think the trade is very fair as it is. Maybe we can meet in the middle and say “If Strome is among their top 12 forwards for TOI in the playoffs then the pick upgrades to a 2nd. This way ensures OTT only upgrades the pick due to a meaningful contribution from Strome.

Sorry, I didn't address the points portion earlier when I should have.

There are too many variables for the point production, that it's more fair to both teams if it's a games played stipulation, say 74 games, which is about 90%, so I would word it, plays in at least 90% of the Senators regular season games.

The playoffs portion probably isn't really necessary, because just playing 90% of the regular season games removes some of the risk, so I'd drop the playoffs portion entirely.

As long as there is a fair and possible (read: somewhat likely) chance that the pick can get upgraded I’m all for it.

I’d rather shoot bigger with Strome and say if he get 60+, we get their first

A team shouldn't add points to a pick upgrade condition in a trade, it's too easy to manipulate, Less PP time, worse wingers, or even less ice time in game, and even if a team didn't sabotage the chances at the conditions, it leaves an opening for "expert fans" to speculate they did.

A monetary bonus for a player in a contract would be the only situation you'll see a points condition included, such as in an ELC.

If you can cite one for a pick increase in a trade, post it please.
