Yes, in theory but he stays with Montreal because Allen is taken.

I mean we could also do Domi for Evans and a 3rd but that means Poehling is 4C and I am not sure he is ready for that yet. Probably need 1/2 - 1 more year in AHL

Poehling is NHL ready and has been for a while, there was just no room in the top 9 and he's not a fit on a 4th line.

You think? I know he had a good last half of the season this year but wasn't sure he was ready.

He was Laval's best forward and a big reason behind their success. He was decent when he played in the NHL too, you just can't expect much when you pair an offensive youngster with Nate Thompson.

Oh I agree with the Thompson thing lol. I knew the Habs weren't happy with his showing up to the bubble in Edmonton out of shape. Also I didn't remember him playing for Montreal this year, I think he must have but just don't remember it LOL. I am fine with bringing him up if he is ready then, I like him.

We need to expose Evans ourselves as he is one of our 2 exposed forwards to be in compliance with the ED rules. Otherwise the trade becomes even more convoluted as more pieces would need to be added. And the cap wodnt work from our side without Byron included.

Byron isn’t a starter for the convo. We don’t need expensive depth forwards unless they play center we have enough wings to fill out 2 more lines.

BTW Byron does play center he played Center for Montreal down the stretch and for a few games in the playoffs. He can be used as a 4th line center and is actually pretty effective at the drawing plays defensively responsible to be a 4th line center short term.

He’s too much money for a 4th line center. If we need one of those we can sign Riley nash again who loved it here. Shut down guy and can play middle six in a pinch. Probably will get like 2 mill tops. We’d need an additional 2nd to take Byron off your hands if that’s who we wanted.

So let me get this straight? Byron who can play anywhere in the lineup, is a great PK guy with elite speed and an elite shooting percentage who is overpaid (no denial here) by about 500k-1 mil is a cap dump who would require us to add 2 2nds but Domi who is inconsistent, has discipline issues on the ice and is about a 1-1.5 Mil overpaid garners the equivalent of 2 2nds and a 4th or 5th round pick? LOL, Domi is the better player for that the one second makes up but they are both overpaid and therefore cancel each other's negative value. IMO it's a deal like this or you can lose Domi for nothing to Seattle cause we all know Columbus is not protecting him.

Your getting domi. Domi for a second and the other second to dump Byron. We don’t need to take a problem contract from Montreal.

If you believe domi isn’t worth the contract then don’t try and trade for him. This isn’t a dump for us. We could use domi in a prominent role. The reason for his exposure is due to his shoulder surgery and him not being ready until December at the earliest.

If you want him his contract shouldn’t be an issue and we’d retain half of his contract in any trade anyways. Cost of moving Byron is a second to us. Cost of acquiring domi is a second. And Byron is worth like 1.5 million. He’s a depth guy. Can play fourth line and shouldn’t play much higher.

That's fine we keep Byron you take a 2nd for Domi and everyone is happy then.
