At least this'll set the bar on what a Makar contract will look like. I'm guessing 8.8 x 8.

Miro over Quinn and Fox. Makar over Miro. Makar $9M x 8 years, unless he signs a bridge.

That sounds like really good value for the Avs. Even $9.5 isn't crazy. Dude is already the best D in the league, imo.

Not sure why it cost them this much money. I guess Dallas strongly believes he's gonna be worth upwards of $9M in 2-3 years if they'd offered him a bridge. Personally, I would have gone with the bridge deal. Unless Miro is a point per game D over the next couple seasons, he won't have the leverage to negotiate more than the value of this contract.

Not sure who voted no. Bit of a down season last year (by his standards). Great deal for both parties. Dallas has him locked in for 8 years. You don’t see a lot of that on 1st standards anymore. Good for Dallas.

Comparing Hughes to Brent Burns is laughable. Nowhere near the size/physicality or the shot of Burns, and a much better skater, more like a Brian Leetch if anything.
Makar,Hughes, Dahlin and Fox have to love this as they will all be in that ballpark.
Its an overpayment imho, the cap isnt supposed to increase much for at least the next 3 or 4 years, while Dallas has some good players to build around, I dont see how they afford to take the necessary steps to get to be a cup contender.

Huge for Dallas, but a steep price to pay.

Would you rather pay 22-year old Heiskanen 8,45 for 8 years or 7 or 8 years and more than that to an older player that hits the market or you get via trade?

GJ Dallas

Probably not enough money, I thought it would be 10+, makar will be interesting.

Great contract for the kid. He carried is to the finals last year so he deserves every single penny.

Also he makes less than Jeff Skinner so that makes the deal look even better.

I mean who can really say they don't like it. Miro Heiskanen is a great defenseman. His comparables are making 8.8-11 Million right now so 8.45 Million until he's 29 is not. bad contract at all especially when they are buying out quite a few of his UFA years. Solid deal for Dallas.
