Damn, I was hoping Hållander would be a contender for the Leafs roster this season.

Good trade nonetheless.

Jared McCann is a solid middle 6 forward that should have been protected by Pittsburgh.

Filip Hallander is basically a piece of leftovers from the Kasperi Kapanen trade.

Getting McCann forces Seattle to choose between him and Kerfoot.

All you need to know.

I voted for the Toronto Maple Leafs smile

This is a great trade for Toronto cause since foligno is probably leaving and Hyman he could be your third line guy. Great pick up

Dubas takes the W. Hallinder is a decent prospect, but damn.

I said the same about the Kadri trade, let's see how Dubas ****s this one up

Isnt it ironic

Hallander + 1st for Kapenan then Hallander goes back to the penguins for McCann

so in a sense Dubas for Kapenan got McCann and Amirov

Very nice trade. Who does Toronto protect in the expansion draft now?

Kadri trade was a good gamble that failed because Barrie didn't work on the leafs. I won't judge a guy who makes a smart move that fails like that. Some gambles succeed some fail. As long as it made sense gotta accept lady lucks role

They can protect both. Just leaves one of Dermott/Holl exposed...

If pittsburgh uses their cap space in a smart way, pens win the trade.

Technically need to add a 7th to Pitts and a bunch of non Ahlers.

The cooler thing is kapanen was a first from Pittsburgh in the Kessel trade so this goes deeper

Matthews
Marner
Tavares
Nylander
Simmonds
Kerfoot
McCann

Rielly
Muzzin
Brodie

Campbell

Spezza, Holl, Dermott, Hutch exposed. If not switch Kerfoot for spezza I guess. So hard to triangulate rn

Doesnt matter. They want cap space, and they got it. Weird how last year everyone said Hallander going to toronto was a massive steal, and all of a sudden hes scraps this year...

Eh in hindsight they picked up a second Rielly in Barrie when they needed a second muzzin.

Not sure who said that... I certainly never did. But asset value is asset value. They should have gotten more for him. Whether from the leafs or someone else

we dont got anyone else rn. Unless Dubas signs Foligno. Cause Engvall not worth, Mikheyev exempt so if we are going 7, 3 and 1 just throw whoever in.

Hes an extremely extremely streaky player. Yes, pitt should have kept him, but he isn't the difference between winning the cup and not winning

So, let's say they protect the following players:

Matthews
Marner
Nylander
Tavares
Kerfoot
McCann

Muzzin
Rielly
Brodie

Campbell

Who would be forward #7 for the Leafs?

Leafs aren't protecting Simmonds that would be a waste.

I don't like giving up Holl for nothing. He's a 2M 2nd pairing RHD.

Maybe Leafs can expose Muzzin. He always gets injured when the Leafs need him most and the Leafs have too many LHD right now.

Pens were mostly likely going to lose him. Also, isn't there a pretty good chance so are the Leafs!
