Just because Tampa was gonna lose him doesn’t mean that a 7th rounder was fair compensation. I would’ve expected a little more.

Goodrow is a UFA.

He's not getting an 8 year deal.

Why is everyone saying the NYR won this deal?

NYR could have signed him in 2 weeks and the trade likely doesn't change the outcome.

Good deal by Rangers. Solid hard working kid, real playoff performer.

Also notable: he went from being traded for a 1st to a 7th.

He also went from being signed for 2 years to being a UFA in 2 weeks.

NYR might not even be able to sign him, and if they can, then they could have done it for free.

Love this move. Goodrow is a perfect fit for our hole at 4LW.

Goodrow-Barron-Gauthier can make for a great 4th line.

Contract predication is 5yr/$3M.

You're right. I thought he was still restricted. Why did the Rangers pay for him then?

Yo who's voting NYR? Tampa got a pick for UFA signing rights on a player we were never going to be able to keep.

It's a 7th so a L for TB. It has next to no value.

Carolina got a 5th for Edmundson's rights, a player far less in demand than Goodrow.

Well, look at it another way. TB trades a first for two Stanley Cups and a 7th. Not a bad deal.
