BUF won't be retaining on Eichel. And they're not going to be adding in Olofsson. But I'd do Eichel and the 3rd for those 3 and the 1st. I think Tomasino is gonna be the best of the bunch.

Dutchies I know that not agreeing with you can be a very lonely journey.... I think that Adams will be retaining on Eichel..... if he has done what I believe he has done which is to go to Terry & Kim and say listen if you want to correct the course of where this franchise is heading you will have to allow me to do a few things that you are going to have to just swallow and move on.... one of those things is retaining on Eichel.

If Terry & Kim give him a 5 year plan the $2,000,000 - $2,500,000 will not matter much to the Sabres. In 2021/2022 no issue, 2022/2023 Miller drop off so that absorbs the retention, 2023/2024 & beyond he can work around it.

If Adams retains on Eichel 20%-25% he increases the number of teams that become contenders and he also will maximize his value.

I actually think GM Adams plan is as follows:

1. Wait and trade Eichel until November/December while retaining 20%-25%. I think it has all been a smoke screen that the Sabres are so high on this years draft.

2. The Sabres will draft Berniers or Eklund #1

3. The Sabres will deal Risto and retain 50% of his salary

4. Adams & Granato will sit down with Samson and apologize for how the organization has treated him and tell him that their plan is to build around him. They want him to sign an 8 year deal for $8,000,000 a year and make him the Captain;

5. The best weapon GM Adams has right now is his ability to retain salary as he is certainly not going to spend in FA at this point;

LOL, I think you overestimate my powers, but it is appreciated.

That's an excellent explanation, and you may just have swayed me. If they are retaining, the return will need to be phenomenal, but I think the players included in this trade definitely fit the bill. I still don't see Olafsson being included though.
Sabres will have no problem retaining on Risto since it's only for the remainder of the year, and I don't see him returning to BUF unless it's at a much lower cap hit.
It would def be in their best interests to get to get Samson signed long term. They need him and Dahlin to be the focal point of the rebuild.

Keep up the good work! You've got some great comments from what I've seen so far. (Though you've been on here far longer than I have).
