really?
Nolan Patrick?
I know he had a down year and he missed a whole season with migraines.
But he didn't improve that much from his rookie season in his second year.

If I'm Vegas Right now... I will probably try to trade Smith for a 2nd line center, so they can have 2 real centers (even if it hurts the depth)

There’s a reason he was drafted 2nd overall.

He could still break out, ya never know.

Been saying all along, the Flyers don’t evaluate talent well, and that’s coming from a Flyers fan. The two pieces that were moved for Ellis are now paired with Josi and centering Stone and Patches. Patrick’s never played with talent that has a shoot first mentality. Phillys gonna regret this one.

They have 5 capable centers. Even if they all have to play a line higher than they probably should, at least they're all cheap

they don't have that true 1rst center, they have a lot of 3rd and 4rd centers, but not 1rst. I liked Stephenson, but not as your n1 center xd

That's what happened when you trade Suzuki grin
imawesome liked this.

Patrick may take a step forward this season immediately with who he's playing with but it not like his first two seasons he played with very talented players but still never seemed to take that step. With Myers I think he has all the physical attributes to be a top for defender but he'll never be a true top pair guy like ellis is he just doesn't think the game well enough. There were plenty of times where myers would pinch even if it was the wrong play and it would pay off but the times he did and it didn't go his way it ended up in the back of the net. I'm sure he finds his way in Nashville but you've got to take a swing if you want to compete Ellis is exactly what the team needs no way is it a bad move right now and I don't think it ever will be

It’s a win now move, and I don’t even know if they’re in a window to realistically have a shot to compete. Ellis has maybe a couple years before that contract starts aging like milk.

As far as the guys we traded, You can argue Patrick played with talented players, but he has never played with shoot first guys to the level of Stone and Patches. He’s probably going to play net front on their PP1 too. You’ll see immediate 50+ points. Myers is going to develop in the NHL defenseman academy that is Nashville next to Josi.

Hopefully they can move out salary and supplement more because they now need another top 4 dman and a scorer or two and enough cap space to resign Allison, Farabee, Coots and G next year. Gonna be hard.

The glass isn't always half full. Patrick was given every opportunity to succeed this year, and he did nothing with it. He was on pp2 the whole year and played in the top 9 for half of the year and he scored nine points. He looked completely dis-interested the whole time. If he wasn't a former 2nd overall pick, he would of been sent to the ahl. If he turns into a decent player cool, but it was never going to happen in Philly. He didnt want to be here. Time to move on for both parties. I still like Myers but i don't see him as anything more than a good 2nd pair guy. He struggled all year and showed some serious flaws to his game. Can't bank on him bouncing back. Myers isn't good enough to play on the top pair and Provorov isn't good enough to carry him. We needed a top pair guy and we got that in Ellis. Gotta give to get.

Did he look disinterested or like he hadn’t played NHL hockey in almost two years? He was slow and passive. Watched him flash in his first two years, especially when he replaced Simmons on PP1. Point is you don’t give up on that draft pedigree. Took Coots 5 ish years. Took Schenn a while too. Centers usually take a little longer.

It’s just not smart to give up on a 22 year old kid and a top 4 Dman for a guy that has maybe 3 great but not elite years. Just my opinion.
