Maybe Seattle doesn't want to pick up Prices contract.....But I do think they take him if he is left unprotected

That’s a lotta money. And also on just a money situation. He is owed a 11m signing bonus in sept. And considering their is gonna plenty of other good options available. I would be very surprised if they take price

Ron Francis was specifically instructed by ownership to spend to the cap.

If this is not a black and white issue, I don't know what is.

Yeah I was working in a small camp in 2017. Didnt even see the expansion draft. Hearing Emelin and Luca Sbisa were taken was glorious! Definitely going to 'try' to ignore the rumours starting tomorrow

Ah. We need an expansion draft every offseason. Crap is straight hitting the fan. Lol. This is gonna be a fun week

People have so much recency bias. If Montreal didn't make the playoffs then we still would not have seen a $10.5 million dollar Carey Price since 2016-17. He's not going to Seattle period

Yet while making Seattle teams, it's very hard to stay under cap, especially if signing any Landeskogs

He's been super inconsistent in reg season since then but talent is still there. His playoffs record is legit elite.

Fleury had some absolutely dreadful seasons before Vegas grabbed him as well. Price has outperformed a pre 2017 MA Fleury.

The contract is a tough one but goalies dont drop off like skaters. Guys like Roloson and Thomas played some of their best hockey in their late 30s

Carey Price would enter there as the number 1 star of the franchise with family from Washington state and he spends time in the Summer there between Kelowna

But Montreal did make the playoffs.

And Carey Price is still a world class goalie.

Arguably, the best of his generation.

Only thing that's standing in the way is the signing bonus due in a few days.

The thing is the Seattle Kraken are owned by the type of people that would light their cigars with a burning 100 dollar bill.

    This is not rocket science.

The difference is that Landeskog will sign with any team that pays top dollar.

Seattle is just one team out of several.

It amazes me that taking an unprotected Carey Price is even a matter of debate.

No.. no he's not. He has been average since 2016-17 except for the playoffs. This is easy recency bias on all of your ends.

Fleury only had a salary cap hit of $5.75 (8.33%) for two years. Price has a salary cap of almost DOUBLE that, $10.5M (14%) for five years. I would be absolutely shocked if Ron Francis says yes to Carey Price. Also Price has not outplayed a pre-Vegas MAF. Here are their respective goalie stats in the four years preceding their respective expansion drafts:

    4 years prior--
    Fleury: .915 sv% 2.37 gaa
    Price: .900 sv% 3.11 gaa

    3 years prior--
    Fleury: .920 sv% 2.31 gaa
    Price: .918 sv% 2.49 gaa

    2 years prior--
    Fleury: .921 sv%, 2.29 gaa
    Price: .909 sv%, 2.79 gaa

    1 year prior--
    Fleury: .909 sv%, 3.02 gaa
    Price: .901 sv%, 2.64 gaa

I stand persistently with Ben Bishop, Chris Driedger, and Casey DeSmith as my three goaltenders.

Same reason MTL is willing to lose him, cap. You should have left him here to see that 5x 10.5m term. That cap is needed elsewhere, on most teams that wouldn't make sense. Francis is a Price character type, so he might be intrigued. I sure wouldn't

Curiously omitting that 2014-15 Hart and Vezina Trophy season for Price including Fleury's strugles in early 2010's

Confirmation bias is always difficult to ignore

2014-15 was seven years ago. And Fleury did not struggle in the 7 years prior to the Vegas expansion draft except for 2016-17 (a struggle that was much less egregious than Price's). That's your confirmation bias speaking. You even omitted the massive salary cap discrepancy I talked about that makes Fleury and Price naturally incomparable for crying out loud.

What is the purpose of playing NHL hockey?

Is it to win the Stanley Cup or to win the President's Trophy?

Seattle is not going to be missing the playoffs in its inaugural season.

Who would Seattle pick under your watch?

    4th liner Jake Evans?

Montreal would have never made the playoffs in the last decade without Carey Price.

    Period.

    Greatness is better than mediocrity.

    You would know.

This is easy denial in your 5 stages of grief on all of your ends.

Accepting reality can be hard sometimes, but you'll come around.

I have faith in you smile

Not once did i say anything about the salary being anything but problematic. I said pre 2017 you ignored both those facts. Thats confirmation bias.

    - Finding something objectionable only to stop reading the others thoughts.

Are you seeing the irony in your statement? Price outperformed a pre-2017 Fleury... in 2014. Not sure if you've been in a coma since then, but the current year is 2021.
