on the outside we are overpaying for horvat. i agree. However, if you look at the lines, where does chytil slot in. I'm fine to overpay a little if we are ditching a player who has no longterm role on the team.

gotcha. Thats why I added chytil. You upgrade on wing and get a 2c who you can pay under 4 mil for 2-3 years. IDK. I based everything off the reports of the rangers trying for a buch for horvat trade. but added in the chytil part to make it a more favorable deal for the canucks. Maybe a third team is necessary... send chytil there and someone more established to vancouver. idk

As far as the trade goes, I personally think its not enough. If the 4th round pick was a 1st round pick I think it would make sense for VAN.

I definitely want to move Chytil in the off-season. The down side is hes not really a C, so it doesnt really fill a hole for them. However JT Miller can play C, and Chytil can slot into the LW spot he opens up.

Possibly. Its an overpay on our part, but thats what it will take to get a legitimate young C. There arent a lot of teams out there with a need on the right side so I hope Drury can make something happen when the freeze is done.

for sure. am interested to see who we protected and hope we can keep rooney and gauthier. Rooney so solid on pk. and i think gauthier could take huge strides under gallant

If we trade Buch, it could be interesting to see Gauthier on the 3rd line under Gallant however we still need a solid 2-way center for the 3rd line. I believe Barron will be that guy in a year or 2, but it would be nice to have a stop gap veteran in there until then.

My only concerns with horvat is what is next contract will look like and also that he’s not a great defensive forward.

Hes excellent on faceoffs, which is better than anything we got which is already an upgrade.

I mean ik strome isnt 2-way but he can be the intermediate option. Also apparently barron has shown that he projects as more of a winger in the nhl. Could potentially play goodrow at 3-c if we deal strome at deadline.
