Taking a much needed step back I would say. Unless they can entice a ton of high end free agents to come.

I honestly would take on some short term brutal contracts (Neal, Lucic, Koskinen, Louie, etc..) And get some major prospects and picks for doing so. Some pieces to build around their current young core

1 : Why rebuilding ??? We will get the cap to actually go berserk and build a really good balanced team

2: I woulnd not touch at Ho-Sang at all

3: 7m to Yandle !!!!!!! (and rebuilding but doing that huh)

4 : you're not signing player to instant trade them, it's how you look like an asshole to other players

5 : Like i said the edmonton deal should not exist

6: Chicago says no

7: Stl says yes and this trade sucks for mtl

8: Lehkonen, Chiarot and maybe a 5th round for that first, not a 2nd and a 3rd (the pick is 28th if i'm correct)

9: Again why signing Hall if you're rebuilding (and he's probably back in Boston)

I understand your idea, but in practice yikes it doesn't make sens

Here is my view on why Price waived.

1. MB is an idiot and thinks Price won't be taken! (most probable)
2. MB thinks with Weber out possibly career over, his cup window has closed.
3. Price asked to be exposed because he wants to move closer to home and feels like his best shot at a cup with Montreal just ended.
4. There is a side deal with Seattle of some sort.

Chicago passed on Byron three(3) times on waivers for free but they'll trade a 3rd and Gaudette for him now??

Danault signs a 5x5, full ntc and nmc , and immediately gets traded???

I don't see Seattle taking on that contract. 10.5mil on a declining goalie on an expansion team probably going no where wouldn't be the best idea. Unless the habs pay them to take on that contract

Probably the 3rd one or the 4rth

I imagine a situation like Seattle take Price and resent him back and retains some salary against a huge price of picks and prospects (that are tradeable, not Suzuki, Caufield, Primeau or Romanov)

I don't think that they will sleep on him, especially because of how it will helps the popularity of the team

I get the popularity/seat selling aspect if there was only a couple years left on the deal, but for 5 years that could really cripple their chances going forward.

He is easily the BEST available goalie in the ED now.

If i'm Ron Francis i don't care, you could have one of the best for nothing (or making a side deal with Mtl, we don't know yet). Even if it's 5 years, it worth the risk

Francis is not going to risk having an absolutley horrendous contract on his hands for the next 5 years. He has already said the biggest asset is cap space. This would go against that.

they need to take at least one or two big contracts so they can be above the lowest limits. And when you have the possibility to get one of the best , you do it, .

(I DONT WANT THEM TO TAKE PRICEEEEEEE but it would make too much sense for both parties)

If Price had 2 years left, yes they probably do it. Not 5 though. Seattle is going to want to be competitive in 5 years. Its just too long for too much for what you're getting. Price's struggles in the regualar season will not go unoticed. Either way we will find his true value when a team legit has a chance to get him for free and passes. A lot of blinded habs fans are going to have their eyes opened.

if you don't agree that price is one of the best, you can't have a valid opinion on that decision then

The contract is the problem i know, but getting an all star goalie nobody says no. They're trying to do like vegas back in 2017, so having the best team possible right away.

Price in the playoffs is one of the best agreed but in the regular season he clearly isn't anymore, not even close. If you're going to have the highest paid goalie on your team he needs to perform. Its way too risky to take on an aging goalie that makes that much, plain and simple. If Price was an all star the last three years or even close to one you honestly think he would have been exposed? There is a reason MB asked him to waive his nmc. He clearly doesn't care if Seattle takes him.

MB has an idea and nobody knows it yet

He's better when he can take a little brak sometimes in the regular season, not like in 2015 when he plays 70games

You don't get excuses when you're paid to be the best goalie in the world. Recently he has struggled when getting a break and he has struggled when his work load is too much. I'll reingage after the expansion is over with you lol.

The contract is bad i know happy

It's a everyday mistake : paying for what he did in the past instead of the future, it's always the case in the nhl

And also he got burned too hard by the weak habs teams he was needed to carry (not this actual team, more the 2014 era)
