no, Seattle gets McCann as the cost of taking and retaining on Matheson.
TOR pays the prospect Hallander to protect Kerfoot from being taken.
Then TOR pay Amirov to get Matheson 50% retained.

oh really, because you are about to lose McCann.

So you come tell me how and why, TOR just paid up a prospect for a guy about to be taken if it's not part of a larger deal?

The leafs are fine with giving kerfoot up for nothing. And The leafs pay Amirov for Matheson? Why? The leafs have McCann so how would that be the cost for Pittsburg to lose Matheson

Stop your rage. It could be a side deal with the Leafs and Seattle but it shouldn't have anything to do with Pittsburg.

In case you didn't notice, the leafs did not protect McCann, you do not "have" him.
    He's going to be selected.

Matheson has zero value for the Leafs this trade would be an ultimate waste. Matheson would need to take away Sandin spot (which would be a silly since he needs to play a full year at the NHL level at this point) or the Leafs would need to move Rielly for this to make any sense.

    it makes sense right?

Pens have to pay to get Seattle to take a guy. McCann is the cost.
TOR gets something out of it. and they need defensive help......which the penguins have to move.
Seattle plays the middle and gets rewarded knowing both teams are screwed in by the cap.

People on here are thick headed. It's capfriendly. It's meant to look at possibilities that have some realistic baseline.
It's not like I'm over here trading McDavid for a 7th.

Niether does Pittsburg. Theres probaly a side deal with the Leafs and Kraken that has nothing to do with Pittsburg or the giving up one of there top prospects

the leafs defense is sad and pathetic. You have no cap space to fix it.
Come off with Dermott and Sandin are you're "solutions". They aren't.

Also don’t know that the rumours on the Leafs protection scheme has been substantiated. Short of Dubas or a player coming right out and saying we did this, it could be just talk to stir up interest In the Toronto hockey media and fan base.

I still dont get it. SEA gets McCann why? And pens are retaining 50% on Matheson and trading him why? I'm still confused by this

pretty sure that's the list. They were submitted yesterday so it's not like they are a secret. If it's coming out today, it's the list.

Stop, Sandin is 20 years old and projects to a top 4 D man. Dermott is an extra/depth piece. But NHL level depth guys are important to playoff teams. Dermott has proven to be a decent depth guy who can give you anywhere from 12-18 minutes depending on the situation.

I don’t disagree the Leafs need a little help on the blue line. But it’s not as bad as you make it seem at all. Matheson however does nothing to help them as I said. I can see Sandin putting up Matheson like numbers as early as this year. The Leafs could use one top 4 caliber right shot D man, potential is there via trade or even free agency, just need to make the moves to make it work.
